    John

It is one of the advantages of the SANEF Tag in that the entire website is in English. However I have always found that Chrome makes a pretty good fist of translations if you want to try that for the ATMB Tag  if you have not done so already.

John I have just picked up on this thread as I am thinking of getting a Tag.

Don't use the tunnel so can't take that offer.

ATMB looks a good offer have you got the answers to your questions?

As an aside have you found any Tag providers who will accept credit card?

Martatin, May I answer in case John does not see your question to him.

You will pay 3 euros postage to get a tag from ATMB. Nothing else to pay in the first year except the cost of any tolls you use. There is no need to give them your bank details, just tick the CB box (bank card) and give your card number,  and tolls will be charged to that card. A bank card without foreign conversion charges is best.

in the second and subsequent years you will be charged for tolls plus €1.60 for any month in which you use the tag. If you don't use it you won't be charged so there is no need to cancel your membership. There are no other charges.

This offer from ATMB ends on 21 March 2017.

Thanks eurortraveller just the info I was looking for. Sounds like the best deal. Particularly wanted to use credit card as as no fee and good exchange rate.

    Thanks again

The ATMB free first year offer ends today.

Eurortraveller's descrition above is excellent, though I would add that a 20 Euro deposit is payable for your Tag (refunded on return of your magic box).

No deposit on the ATMB tag - the only upfront cost is the €3 postage.

Thank you for the compliment, but as BirderBilly said there was no 20 Euro deposit  under the special offer deal,  no need to return the ATMB tag,  and no refund if you ever did. But for the time being that offer has ended. Sorry.

We have had ours for a good few years now, wouldn't be without it (Reimo Blinds really reduce the window aperture size) in fact we have just found out (through our Sanef UK account page) that the battery is about to expire and we need a new tag.

I was about to order the tag when I noticed that the tag device and as a result - the clip design has changed, they do send one new shape clip with the new tag apparently but if (like us) you use the clip on several vehicles and you are updating to the new shaped tag you will need to buy some additional new shaped clips as well.

i assume Liber-t is sold/managed by Sanef and ATMB.....any others?

had a look at Sanef (for Liber-t) this morning and pretty quickly decided i didnt want any subscription based 'acct mgt' costs....so, not interested...see costs in photo below.....ouch! easpecially if another required for Spain.....double ouch!

a quick look now at Liber-t and the 'charges' of €1.60 only apply in the month the tag is used, no other charges, ongoing or upfront...

if ive read this right, ATMB looks a sensible choice and Sanef not...

any comments on the two choices?

Thanks for the heads up regarding the battery. Just checked my Sanef account and I notice I have a battery warning flagged up.

I like the Sanef account because it's all done in English and if I have any questions it is easy to contact them. We got ours through an offer with Eurotunnel  (I think) and that meant half the deposit and either free or half price joining fee. I think the CMC did a similar offer. I know there are those that chase every penny of savings but we find the Sanef system suits us and so far it has proved very reliable although you do have to experiment where to place the tag on a motorhome, especially if you have any cab overhang.

    thanks AD and TG....

yes, another tag required for Spain, and while DK mentions 'penny pinching' it seems daft to me to pay many times more for the Sanef version (compared to ATMB) when they are the same product.

....especially as the fees would double if orderong a Spanish tag as well.

BTW, the ATMB website is in English...though i cant say how their billing is produced.

BB we have a DD set up through the bank, an email is sent the month after the tag is used.

Nothing to do with penny pinching for us, just seemed a good thing to have, can also be used in some carparks too.

The new SANEF Via-T Tag for Spain also includes Portugal.

See Sanef Tolling website  Saves a lot of faffing about in Portugal trying to register your credit card to pay the automatic tolls.

I currently use a UK provided Sanef Tag so having red this thread  looked at the ATMB website and it quotes a €20 deposit for the Tag.

Is it likely that this is now the norm or are there offers from ATMB from time to time?

Considering as we may not use French Autoroutes again till 2019, if then, so may be no point keeping the Sanef.

There was a special offer which waived the deposit. This offer may reappear.

We had our Sanef deposit returned promptly when we transferred to ATMB, taking advantage of the special offer.

Although the sanef tag worked out a bit more expensive, I liked the fact that payment was by DD with the British arm of the company. It is therefore protected by the DD guarantees. It is also easy to trade it in for another, when the battery starts going flat.

I understood the ATMB was by one of those continuous payment arrangements on your credit card, from the continent. I am not even keen on those in this country. My DD I can cancel when ever I like on my online banking. Just my preference, but I am willing to pay a bit extra for the above.

But do they take it automatically, and just tell you they are doing it? That was the aspect I did not like, as it is not as easy to cancel that type of payment. Unless of course you do away with the card.

If not the case and you just pay the bill each time, and no details are retained. I might consider it.

Really pleased with my ATMB which I got in March. They send you an email the month after you use it. I got email about 10th Oct for September usage saying detailed bill was available to view on my account the next day and how much total was and my card would be debited on 22 October.Only down side all in French but easy to translate on Google. Assume 10 days sufficient time to contact my Card Company if any dispute.
