Beautiful sun here but chilly wind. First lot of washing dried 😆. Another load ready to go out. Appointment for x Ray 9 15am done and out at 9.20am 😆😆.
Returned holiday dog to yesterday. Out for a late lunch found out at the last moment his partners mother coming 😲. They've been together 6 years and engaged for 11 months, not been offered before.
Off into town with OH to choose family Christmas cards after catch up on here and cuppa.
Tammygirl have a great trip, hopefully you're feeling better if you attended granddaughter parade? Hope the forecast snow didn't affect you.
Enjoy your day folks however you spend it.

Insurance seems to be shooting up these days on both the vehicle and household fronts. We were hit with a big increase early this year when we got the new car, only to be expected no doubt as it is worth far more, and a 15% increase on the Smart car insurance in October, despite have an additional year of NCD.
Unusually, our current insurer offered the best price.
Next for renewal is the house insurance in January.

Cold and grey here today, CH turned back on.
Check up at dentist this afternoon, wood turning club meeting this evening. New kitchen drawer fronts all marked up for handles, just need to take them to the very cold garage to drill the holes.
Next thing is the worktop, which needs a bit of surgery....reduce length a little and round the corners and edges.....also needs to be done either in the garage or outside.

How much is a point worth these days?
Just got my Barclaycard bill for next month, points on there too, need to check out if I have enough to get some vouchers. Only problem is the rather larger than usual bill, due to the kitchen improvements, has to be paid at some point!

I have a standard 3 bar patio heater in the garage bought from Woolworths in a WInter Sale a dozen years ago. Very pleasant when needed. If the cold gets to my spine I suffer.

Expensive walk into town but the big spend was justified. OH had reminder from opticians so called in to make appointment. Offered one and hour and half later so went for it. Prescription had changed a bit (as it had before apparently!) and I pushed for new frames and lenses, and I won 😉😉. The ones he's wearing have been around for a while - May 2009 according to the account book 😲😲 when I checked it out at home. It works out, including sunglasses, about 6p a day. So if the new ones last as long they too will be value for money 😆.
Also bought family Christmas cards without looking at the shopping list! The list said EXCEPT NZ ones. Re bought NZ ones, wasn't over joyed with today's choice in several shops. Settled for daughter and her family with nice words, even if it had snowmen on. Took that and 2 granddaughter cards with the rest and paid. Only when home did I check the list 😂😂 and the cards total mental block and OH didn't notice that card covered all NZ crew so didn't need granddaughter ones. So we've had a good laugh since getting home! But I've been accused of wasting money!
Washing dried beautifully but the air VERY chilly. Still cold and bright has been nice today.

Sunny but cold day here. Without yesterday's bitter wind though so very pleasant. We had our block paved front drive cleaned today. Gosh what a difference!! The guy did a brilliant job and even cleaned the wall and the pavement. We are very clean and sparkly now. 😊
So glad you had such a good day with your GD yesterday tammygirl. I hope you OH doesn't get your nasty cold. Have a brilliant time in Spain. Hope you both come back fit and well.
Hope your OH's new spectacles are a success bakers2. Did you have a good time with your son's future MIL at the weekend?

We had a very good quote from the Club a couple of years back, covering non standard construction, but when we spoke to someone and said our house was timber frame, it almost doubled!
Up here, timber frame is quite common, our daughter's 3 storey townhouse is timber frame, by a major developer, and she, like us in the past has had no problem getting cover at a reasonable rate.
Whoever the Club uses for quotes is living in the past. On questioning the premium,we were told a timber frame house is much more likely to be a total loss in a fire!
I wonder how many claims are for total loss due to fire? Very few I would think, certainly no basis to double the premium!
CCC has got our business instead.

Yes, I do have a heater available, and OH has said I should use it, but the garage is huge and takes a while to warm up, so mainly I do not bother as I am not down there that long.
(We have an upside down house....living rooms, including kitchen, are on the upper floor, bedrooms and garage are on the ground floor)
OH says then do not complain, which is fair enough I suppose!
A bit of sun makes a big difference as it warms the garage nicely, so I keep hoping for a sunny day.

Ah but the beauty of the patio heater is that it does not have to warm he garage .... only me. Very directional and keeps my back, neck and down the back of my calves warm.

Mine is a bit like this one.
We used to have regular parties and a good friend had arthritis and so it kept her comfortable if folk were sat out on the patio on a summer evening.

Good days birdwatching on the Rivers Ouse and Humber. Bit warmer here than yesterday which was spent most enjoyably at Knaresborough and Harrogate. Bitter wind but sunny. Lovely Rememberance Service in Knaresborough just by the castle.

Woke up to a frozen windscreen, and had to run the engine to clear it before setting off as the early morning sun soon disappeared under high cloud. Home at 10:45 from our 9 week trip after an easy run up the M6. Van emptied and 3rd washing load on by the time we sat down for a spot of lunch at 12:30.

We had our Shogun car insurance through Devitts last year but it cost £700 more than this year through comparethemarket.com in which esure came out as lowest cost. I have two cars to insure hence the necessity of reducing the bill on each car! Also the road tax on the Smart car has been renewed for another 12 months at no cost!

The Smart car will be due its first service next month. Also we had a letter recalling the Shogun because of some fault with the airbags. Apparently there is risk of injury due to shrapnel in the event of an accident. So I will need to take it to Brighton Mitsubishi to have it rectified. Perhaps I can get a new battery fitted at the same time!

Thats with two years no claims bonus!

Each Tesco Clubcard point is worth a penny. Last quarter, I accumulated a total of 2500 points and received £25 in vouchers which we spent in store to get £25 off the grocery bill! This quarter my account is showing 749 points accumulated so far. I get double points everytime I use my Tesco debit card in Tesco shopping. My wife is a second cardholder on my Tesco credit card account, so she has used it for shopping in the evening whilst I'm at work and got many reduced price bargains that way! The Tesco credit card is 1 point for every £4 spend in Tesco, so it's not as good a deal as the debit card! However, it can be used outside Tesco gaining 1 point for every £8 spend.
