What are you all up to

Just gone onto the "On Line" prescription ordering, but it takes 7 ( SEVEN ) working days for the chemists to have it ready so I put a reminder onto my cereal box !! It used to be two days for the paperwork then I picked it up & went straight round to my chemist of choice and get it all made up on the spot .
All this modernisation Bah , Humbug Growl - at this rate I'll wear out the Emoticons dAMMIT !!

I asked our medical centre receptionist if it was worth giving the on line ordering service a go ie was it reliable, she was sceptical so I didn't do it. I just order repeat scripts via the centre, the chemist is next door so the only problem is me not noticing something is about to run out. Which is why I made the online enquiry!

I've said that machines/computers have slowed up systems for years. One of my aunt's worked in the wages department of the hospital all her working life, she never married and progressed well. Wages were paid weekly and Thursdays were long busy days. Overtime was claimed on the Thursday and paid on the Friday in cash that had to be counted out and the wage slips hand written😲😲😲. As things gradually changed it ended up computerised and overtime paid a month in arrears. Who were the winners?
I've decided to request my repeat prescription on paper and continue to collect from the chemist next door a couple of days later. I have a reminder set on repeat regularly on my phone allowing for a slight delay in action 😉 so that will continue. Our repeats are usually ready 48 hours after request. Who knows if we have a new regime this may have changed!
Several reasons for this, the form I was given to complete is unreadable in places where they expect an answer 😲😲😲, the printer clearly needed new ink! I call that slapdash and careless myself 😤. I have to give photo ID, not an issue but after 30 plus years with the practice ........... because I need extra supplies to cover NZ trip I'll need to make a special request, bound not to be a space for this doing it online!
I've been too busy to write today, but any time my brain has had nothing else to do its been mulling over phrases to use in my letter. I'm mighty pleased with some of them 😉

After a frost through the night we woke up to a bright sunny day. After a 3 mlie walk we got back to the van in time before our visitors, Wherenext & Mrs WH, arrived. We had a good old chat about our respective trips in the van before heading down to The Cross Foxes at Overton Bridge for lunch. It was great to meet up with them again and chew the fat, as it were. Hope that we'll be able to do so again in the not too distant future.

Been grey, damp feeling chilly, but dry. Took mum out to buy new shoes, not impressed with customer service (might it be me this week? 😉). Family owned shop I had my first shoes from there mum may have had too, and subsequent ones until I gave up sensible 😂😂. Mum is 87 and has had a couple of strokes so needed very sensible shoes. No helping her with them, checking the fit etc no choice of colour or style. £80 please! Did suggest out loud that we try another self owned shoe shop in opposite direction but mother not having it 😲. Photos for her disabled blue badge completely the opposite, again family owned shop now run by third generation to my knowledge.
Didn't think mum seemed as robust, this term is relative, today and certainly not walking so well. Hope the shoe money isn' wasted 😉😉.

I had a letter, snail mail, from Equifax saying that my my personal data has been accessed, please read this letter and take immediate action to protect yourself. It seems through a cyber attack against Equifax in the US. It goes on to say it's my name, date of birth and telephone number - they've had the info since May 2017. It goes on to ask me to contact Equifax with my details.
I intend on doing nothing other than being extra vigilant. Does anyone else have any knowledge of this?

We've had a fun packed day. Firstly packing for a trip away starting Friday, always a great feeling, then we met up with Nellie and his long suffering wife and put the caravanning world to rights followed by an extended lunch, mainly due to slow service, but it allowed us more chat time. Good to hear their reports on various potential stopovers
A nice sunny day which unfortunately highlighted how filthy the windows were following the rain of late. Now know my job tomorrow.

Yes there are three hulls, but as it will be on fresh water and stored in dinghy park no antifouling required. it is specifically designed for disabled sailors in mind so son will be able to use as well!
MH toppers are good fun, for the young, last time I tried one was a couple of years ago I got cramp and had to be retrieved by the safety boat!!

Some progress in the kitchen today, wall units all fixed together, doors fitted, end panels fitted, light pelmet fitted below.
Plans drawn up for supporting plinth, tomorrow I plan to get it made. Base units are assembled and waiting. OH is becoming impatient as it has all taken much longer than I thought!
Worktop will be solid beech to match the rest of the kitchen so it has to be cut to size and have its corners rounded before it gets several coats of Danish Oil on all edges and sides.
There will also be a pine plinth front and T&G end panel to be varnished.
The weekend will be tiling at DD's, so it will be into next week before this project is finished.
After that I have 6 drawers to make, I reckon another trip to Ikea for free materials is on the cards.

Free hours....what are those?!
The women in my life know how to keep me busy, they have long lists!
As well as all the above, the lists include the nursery to be painted, the downstairs toilet to be painted, a cot bed to be fetched and renovated, some new lights in our kitchen, bits and pieces to be done in the caravan, and several other things I cannot even remember.
I just might get Christmas day off!

You forgot to mention getting the awning up!

It looks like my purchase of a seasonal pitch at Northbrook Farm CMC site for 2018 has been successful! The £1310 payment has gone through my Tesco Credit Clubcard account. So the whole season has been successfully paid up by me. I reckon the spend will also earn me another 63 Clubcard points because of 1 point for every £8 spend.
The other good news is that my wife has received her level 2 English language Certificate which is required for her visa having successfully passed her exam.
So plenty to celebrate now!

I am pleased to hear you were successful with your seasonal and congratulations to your wife.
I just checked my online banking and no sign yet the CC have taken anything. Although I did opt for direct debit, so perhaps that takes longer to set up.🤞 It does seem a strange way to carry on though, taking the money, before they tell you that you are successful.

Thanks, SteveL. I got the confirmation email from CMC this morning for Northbrook Farm. I'm not sure how it works for other sites. I didn't get any news about my winter booking at Gatwick.

Just got the email Malcom. Successful 😀 They are taking the payments in four bits, starting the 1st of December, so that's why nothing was showing on my OLB. Hopefully you will hear positively about Gatwick soon.🤞It will be great for you to have a whole year sorted.

Congratulations on successfully getting your seasonal pitch, SteveL!

Yes, the whole day, but only because we will be spending it at our son's house, their turn for Christmas this year.
I just have to hope he does not find something that needs fixed when we are there!
No doubt there will be a contribution of food to take along, so could be some work involved there, if we make trifle, I get to make the custard.

Fortunately we do not have an awning, just a Fiamma, so not much involved. On our last trip we never actually used the Fiamma at all. Must remember to remove it for the winter.
It is on its last legs, so we need to sort something new for next year.

,Home early to catch up with house things etc etc .Planted some more Garlic seed at the B'yd. Rescued a poor little mite of a Kitten ,about 6 weeks old white, abandoned by it's Feral Mother !! ,several cats around the B/yd but this Mother moved the Kitten where she'd birthed them and carried it to leave it under my storage container!! I only found it because it was shouting/meowing SO loud ! It snuggled up in my arms and meeued in thanks !!otherwise the marauding local Fox would have .Took it to one of the other residents at the B/yd who regularly feeds the population.Cats have an inbuilt instinct as to wether you are a "Cat Person" or not. This episode is the third time I've helped out Felines.Love them .

We have been looking at awnings to buy for out new caravan. Quite impressed with the porch style blow up ones. We did have a full sized canvas one when we last had a caravan but dont need one that size any more. The air ones look so easy to put up

Yes, we have watched a few being put up, however they are quite bulky and heavy, an important consideration for we old folk!
We like the Fiamma, so are looking into whether we can buy just a replacement roof fabric with bag, as the rest is fine. It is the Zip one, so zips would need to be the same as we have.
