What are you all up to

Another dry day here. Doctors appointment at 0830. Not had cause to go in for months. Waiting room has quite aggressively worded notices about verbal and physical abuse in very large type, including that the police will be called and charges bought. Along with signs saying if you're more than 10 minutes late you'll not be seen and have to remake appointment. A receptionist may consult with the doctor in exceptional circumstances. We live on a very normal area no problems as far as I know and we've been in the area 38 years using the same practice 😲😲😲.
I give me name and told to take a seat. After 0845 no one has come out or gone in to doctor I booked to see. So I ask if doctor knows I'm there? I said nothing to receptionist as I thought someone maybe have been with doctor needing extra time. (Someone had walked through the waiting room acknowledging no one about 0845.) Yes you'll be called in shortly was curt reply. I got called at 0850 lovely foundation year 2 (I discover) young lady, greets me nicely and says sorry to keep you waiting, it was the lady who'd walked through waiting room 😲. I point out the aggressively worded signs that had appeared and said I thought it should apply both ways, and just the receptionist advising the doctor running late would have been polite and sufficient. She nodded its agreement.
I said nothing on the way out either as one sign said you' be 'deducted' from the patient list. I didn' want to be deducted 😉. Not impressed but I know our planners have agreed to thousand more houses and no extra infrastructure of any sort included....... So I'm very impressed with those who are having great service!
That said I had to phone for x Ray appointment. Name? NHS number etc. When can you come? Anytime any day say I. Give me a day so I can check the diary. I tongue in cheek say can't do next Tuesday, Monday 0915 comes reply, wished I'd said tomorrow! So much quicker than getting GP appointment!
Opticians appointment 1100. Cataract progressing vision changing again just 6 months on but don't have to have new glasses immediately - still legal for driving in glasses and I usually wear contact lenses 😆 another check in 6 months!
Followed by nice catch up lunch with a friend. Bright dry and chilly. Very slight damp in the air. So good holiday dog walking 😆. Sorry for those of you who are continuing to experience the wet stuff 😉.

Glad you had a good time in NI milliehull.
A working shower now is good going Helenandtrevor. Almost there now 😉

Hope you hadn't gone for a blood pressure check!!!!!
Does your surgery not have a Patient committee as some of the issues could be raised there with the Practice Manager. Mind you it could all be the idea of that manager!!! It seems difficult to believe that such notices were put up without some justification?

We had a dry start to the day following rain during the night, Away from Pardon Hill before 10:00 and ran into rain at Kidderminster. Still raining when we got to the Rosedale site so I got a bit damp setting up. It finally stopped raining mid afternoon so manged another short walk with Flyte in the dry. We did have another shower around dinner time but it seems to be clear now and the forecast is for a fine day tomorrow.

B2 , you certainly seem to have been unlucky today at the Docs. We are lucky with our surgery, with appointments etc, although I've not had to visit them very often. We get plenty of reminders by text of any appointments we've made, and calls to visit for Flu injections etc so can't complain.
OP Good luck with your appointment with the consultant. Hope that he can sort you out quickly.

Fortunately not a blood pressure check. I already suffer with white coat syndrome 😂😂.
Yes there is a patient committee and we were both members. Neither of us have received emails recently. When I have mo I will be emailing the practice manager but not hold my breath! There was another issue - re ordering repeat prescriptions, can no longer email as it causes too much work. I have to register for online, producing photo ID. So I ask ask what those who don' have computer access do? Fill in paper slip I can give you or you can drop a letter through the door. I scrapped in with last email request, which generated an abrupt reply where it said paper copies had to be shredded using resources! Receptionist said they had to print emails so cost of paper and ink plus shredding. You couldn' make it up could you??? Ours used to be the mother practice but it seems from what I gleaned today, it's the looking to be junior one now, closed a day and half every week - no wonder we're unable to get book in advance appointments 😲. Plenty if you can get to the other practice opposite end of town, not on a bus route........... I walk to ours and can drive to the other if necessary.
PS it's raining now, can hear it on the windows over the TV 😂

We can get prescriptions in several ways. Obviously the doctor can issue you one at any appointment. We can phone a special number. Write a chit in the surgery. Or reorder using the online system which we mainly use. I suspect what they are moving towards is the automatic ordering of regular medication sent automatically to the pharmacy, you just have to remember to pick it up!!!

Dull but dry here this morning but threw it down last night. My 7 pm appointment went well, no queues, straight in saw consultant and out again in 10 minutes. Back to hospital this morning for photograph (no appointment, walk in service) of head then biopsy within 2 weeks.

No, not much, I could do with a bit more!

Yes hardstanding would be better, however, we're lucky to get a site within one mile of where I work. This saves time as well as fuel.

It must be quite uplifting Malc knowing your every move is both scrutinised & analysed, you’re like a CT celebrity👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎

Thanks for the vote of confidence, R2B!

Free thinkers & enjoyers always have my support Malc. You do your thing & enjoy life, it’s good to see/read. I’m not a fan of the controllers who want everyone to fit into their little boxes. You put more into the CC coffers than most ever do👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊. May you & yours continue to enjoy life.

I hope all will be well OP. It sounds as though you have had excellent service.

Bakers 2: Has your GP practice got a new Practice Manager? Somebody seems to be going in with all guns blazing. What a horrid reception when you get to the surgery. We had a wonderful GP practice where I had been a patient since my teens, we never had cause for complaint but they merged with another surgery a few years ago and built a new all singing and all dancing surgery which is now slightly out of town with no convenient bus route and things have changed considerably. It is very impersonal, everything done my screen (checking in etc.) or online. I wonder what the receptionists do make them seem to stressed. We can no longer order prescriptions by phone but have to do it online or by a paper request in the surgery. I think they have now instigated a 24 hour automated phone line for appts and repeat prescriptions which I must investigate as Mr H doesn't use the computer. Getting an appointment with a specific GP is like winning the lottery. I think they call it progress. I hope all goes well for you.

Yes on re-reading it, I can see he meant the site owners profit!
We like this site but like you say it is all grass. However, it does give us a bit of a lawn outside the awning.

Robsail as Bakers2 has said The Thursford Christmas Spectacular is very popular and is already sold out for this year. It starts the first week in November. I just found it amazing that a coach party of what looked like very elderly pensioners made the journey all the way from Plymouth to go there!!

I had heard of the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, when we used to do our East Anglia Sojourn and have visited during the summer seeing all those fantastic fairground organs. however my surprise was that a Christmas show running in the first week of November!
PS Bought that sailing trimaran! roll on next year!!

Just spent last weekend at North York Moors club site and brought van home, drained and washed it, removed battery, and took it to storage. Lifted it onto axle stands and put the bag over the top and waved it goodbye until March. It's been another good year touring with the highlight being a week in Venice region.
Now got to find the way to the airport for some winter sun in Mexico before Christmas, skiing in January to Val Thorens and off to Lanzarote a few days later. I love being retired!

Three hulls to scrub off and antifoul - doesn't bear thinking about.

Beautiful day here in Notts, clear blue sky. Went for a nice walk around the lake, followed by a bowl of soup in the cafe. Spotted the Cormorants again, drying their wings, sat on a log. Second week running, although fairly common by the sea, they are a rare sight here.

Took the "Concorde"in for the 'ALDE' failure today, they couldn't fix it though!! Said it needs a new circulatory pump, which means a complete drain down and refill. They gave me a phone number of a local mobile engineer who might be able to do it,as the job needs a special pressure pump to re-set it up and to bleed the system .Apart from that ,,,,had a new windscreen fitted to the "Smart".Money money money !! Oh well ,can't take it with you !!!!.

Well done. Hope you enjoy it. Our son and DIL in N. Ireland have just bought our 9 year old grand-daughter a second hand topper. She is very excited!

Sorry to hear all your problems Bakers2. I get my repeat prescription through the chemist. When I go to collect a prescription, I tick the form for the next time and they sort it for me. The chemist is right next door to the Doctors, so if there is a problem (very rarely) I just pop in.

That would be OK for my BP prescription as that is regular medication but my arthritis medication I take as and when required (and preferably not too often) so I could end up with a stockpile. I order mine online and the chemist delivers them.
