Booking conditions of the C&CC are different from those of the CC.

In truth WTG the level of deposit with C&CC is pretty low and less than half the price of most commercials I would think.

Substantial deposits for peak times and Bank Holidays only, with balance payments due 1 month prior to arrival date.

No deposits required for all other times

I for one could live with this

The call centre staff are excellent and sorted us out quickly

However a minor amendment to our booking required me to wait for office hours, find my membership number, explain the issue, get my deposit refunded then go to find my bank card so they could take a new deposit for a sum that was within pennies of the original sum.

I do wish that there was provision for amendments to be made online

I take it that is not what CCC do Nigel but what you think CC should do. smile

I am against deposits but I can see your logic. Personally I like the present user friendly system.

I think you are right ET. It certainly would for me, if I was canceling just for the weather. High winds excepted of course.

I do not think any organisation would want to allianate the core majority of their business to satisfy? The personal needs of what seems a very  small  minoritywink

I guess I’m trying to think of ideas to help those that want to book a week or a fortnight during school holiday periods whilst not completely remove the freedom at other times that are currently enjoyed. As you know CCC are fully deposit driven and I live with that perfectly well plus I like the lack of a frenzy day. I’m positive this Club are losing business at peak times because of the booking system that exists. It was reported by others on here that some Cornish sites were not full during the week yet full at weekends, during August of this year. I’d be surprised if the Club didn’t note this too.

The only way for the CC to introduce deposits without it costing bucket loads of time and money in administration, would be for them to have your credit card details and debit say the first night for no shows.

    I can't say I am keen on that.☹️

The current system was OK when we were both working and is OK now. Why change it to bring it in line with other providers. That is just limiting choice. If you prefer what others offer, just use them instead. There are after all plenty out there.

If the idea was aimed at a very small minority, peak prices wouldn’t exist. Any holiday leisure business, regardless of all year round opening, are well aware that income is seasonal.

Have seen similar in other parts of the country in May. June, July and September. But I do take your point. It surprised e a couple of years ago just how busy NE coastal sites were in September with near full at weekends in particular. Indeed one of the reasons that we book well ahead instead of say 7 weeks before the off.

I have to agree on all your points, if people love giving their money away early then go to site where they do that.

I was tied to school holidays and we always got our first choice every year.

I have little confidence regarding web security given that the Forum and other things are a part of the same website as booking.

I have a credit card for just such occasions with a £250 limit wink

This sort of thing, wich JS has related before is what makes us think that changing a booking is rather complicated compared to the easy on line process with CAMC.

We plan our September tour in Early July and often find it difficult to get a 5 night stay that includes a weekend.  I think this year 3 of our preferred sites were booked up at weekends.

Generally, between March and October, getting a booking that includes a weekend is just as tricky in the off peak times as in school holidays.

Looks like we need to start booking earlier!

on arrival (for the whole stay) is most definitely 'in advance' in my book, and certainly when compared to how the majority of sites i visit operate...in arrears...wink

if you wanted to leave early (weather/change of mind/plans) youd have to get it back somehow rather than only paying for the time youre on site (on leaving).... so, definitely different....IMHOsmile

Nothing to stop you paying day to day if you wish. I have never had a problem with getting refunds as I have always been moving to another CC site as it happens.

But not "the majority of sites"  you use in the UK though, BB. In fact I bet you have to pay a whole lot further in advance for, say, Haven or Morris etc. wink

But I am continually mystified why folk think that when one pays is important, or even a factor in choosing where to stay? For us, location comes first, then choice of site - once we've settled on that I'm content to go along with whatever system they choose.

When one pays is not a major factor for us but I prefer no deposit. If deposit required so be it.

I do dislike when a deposit is requested and then payment in full a month before arrival because it means a bit more faffing on my part.

Can't think, or have never heard, of any major UK site where you pay at the end, just one of our quaint ways I suppose.

Again this paying before or after is quite immaterial, to me and most. You also know what is going to happen regards paying, certainly on club sites and you could ask if you're so dead against such things so if you don't like it, why go to a club site?

All package holidays are pay first, and most hotels are pay on arrival and actually all the ones I've used over there are too.

I wonder if you can pay for your ferry when you get off?

just to return to 'home soil' ALL our many stays at C&CC THS meets (and the majority of our CL/CS breaks) are paid on departure...again, dependant on how long we decide to stay....

i only mention this (and the circumstances earlier) as, despite comments about 'payment when?, doesnt matter'...yet when the C&CC ask for a deposit most on here run for cover at paying a bit in advance...undecided

    paying a bit in advance

I might well pay a long Time in advance! To be fair though the C&CC deposits are modest. I prefer CC system really for the flexibility it provides me with .... even if the flexibility is on;y used on occasion. The flexibility is compounded because of my using mainly CC sites. If leaving early and not moving onto a CC site I loose a nights fee. No idea what system is with C&CC but I have no problem with loosing the fee in that respect.

I have stayed on CLs where payment has been made on departure but I have usually paid before then so as to have no fuss on departure if leaving early in the day ....... probably the same as in some Spanish restaurants when I have not wanted to wait for a bill before leaving or when I have a bus to catch after eating. Have done the same in UK on occasion

That would be pretty universal over there (btw how can something be universal apart from a part of that universe) Moving on, it doesn't really matter what happens over there this is the UK sites section and we should deal with what happens over here.

Are there any major UK sites that pay on departure?
