An Alternative to Camping Cheques - some good news
Archie - of Archie's Camping has now sent me some important news for users of Camping Cheques, and ACSI.
The Best Deal Discount Camping group have now decided to make their discount scheme open to people in the UK. Previously you had to have an address in mainland Europe. This is free to join, and gives you a discounted rate on 1,100 campsites (increasing each year). You can register on line for the card, https://crm.campingnavigator.com/best_deal_campingcard_en]here at Camping Card Best Dealand you can download their guides. The 'card' is emailed to you to print off and stick together. I'm not quite sure yet of the discounts applicable, or quite how it works, but a lot of Dutch people have moved over to using the Best Deal Camping Card and the Dutch are very canny 'discount' users..
A lot of 'favourite' sites of UKCS forum users seem to be available through the scheme, but I've yet to find out all the details.
I'll email Archie to find out more details, but in the meantime I suggest that anyone interested should register, print off your completely free card, and then explore their website.

The information about 1100 sites on the (in English) 'Home Page' of Best Deal. ............... "- is not quite correct. When you actually look at the sites, many popular sites are listed, but only those with a 'banner' across the corner saying Best Deal offer a discount when using the card! The discounts seem to be similar the the ACSI ones, and this card is free. Details of 'Best Deal' sites are also available as a 'downloadable' file from Archie's Campings.

There does seem to be a discrepancy in the figures, as in Dutch it says: zo'n 560 campings in Europa, which is about half of that quoted in the English version. According to the Dutch version also Campingnavigator has grown in the last 30 years to a "European online platform with over 7900 campsites". But of course only those sites with the BestDeal banner offer the discount.
A lot of sites are also in the ACSI scheme at the same price, and of course ACSI has a lot more sites, but perhaps something to keep an eye on, as they now seem to be expanding.
I've had my card for some years now, it is a creditcard type card with no expiry date on it, but haven't used it much at all.
