Maybe this thread will be removed to avoid confusion?

But if it is it can be read via google. Hiding things doesn't always solve the problem.

I've just found the first hhread via Google. It's not been closed so I presume you could add a comment should you wish.  But the thread after club together /discusdions /says hidden where this says club products and services.

Why hide a thread? Why not close it for further comment before doing so? I know nothing of programming computers so these could be naive questions 😂. But if there is not an offer how can it still be found can it not need completely removed?

Personally I'm not interested in either offer, but am somewhat puzzled that something can be trumpeted in print and online and then this, I have no idea what to call it, 😉 happens.

It's raised a question in my mind about the set up on here and whether site security is not the best. I'm not au fait with web site development but surely more secure sites would not appear on google via a quick search or would they? Are posts on other vanning forums so visible to outside viewing even when hidden?

Apologies, this is off track but what is the point of hiding something that the world can view?

It's a peculiarity of this forum. Do you recall posters managing to post in the moderators forum? laughing

Most forum software allows things that are hidden to stay firmly hidden.

    Hi everyone,

We can confirm Pump-King is not a scam.  Pump-King is a dedicated service providing licensed taxi drivers with discounted fuel.  The Club and Pump-King have been discussing rolling this service out to Caravan and Motorhome Club members.

Pump-King will be refunding the £2 admin fee to all members who signed up and do not store any card details.  Pump-King will be contacting all those who signed up directly confirming the refund.

We concur the adverts in the magazine were premature and caused unnecessary confusion; this was not the Club’s intention.

With regards to the Pump-King webpage it was not live or accessible via our website.  The link shared on the original thread was found via a google search, this link should not have appeared on google which highlighted the digital indexing problem (this has now been fixed/removed).

Please be assured the Club is working hard to negotiate the best offers for members and we apologise profusely for the disappointment and inconvenience caused.

Thanks Rowena in obtaining a more complete answer to the debacle smile None of this is directly aimed at you as CM but unfortunately you are the face of the forum when something happens.

Thanks the explanation Rowena, but i am going to be mightly aggreived if it comes to light that the PK offering is being offered within CAMHC, head office staff maybe. I cant believe that a link appearing on the web to PK which when used automatically inserted the code CAHMC that CAHMC was not somehow complicit in providing this link.

Whilst I agree that this is probably not a scam I don't believe they "do not store any card details"

They issue you a card, you use it and they charge your "on file bank card details" (On a Friday of each week I seem to remember?)

Each to their own but I have now had my bank card changed so any card details they hold for me are now void.

I'm just miffed because I had to cancel my card and spend time sorting out payments on the new one.

    Rowena.

If PumpKing do not hold any card details how are they able to refund our £2?

They have my long card number and CSV security code along with my name. That is sufficient for me to be concerned that it could, theoretically, be misused!

What does the digital indexing problem say about the security of our personal information on the club site?

"What does the digital indexing problem say about the security of our personal information on the club site?"

That's the very reason I cancelled my DD for renewal of membership last year.

I have just been refunded my £2.

However no reply to my questions about the retention of my account details and digital security of the whole of the web site.

Yes got my £2 refunded also, but the whole episode leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Just to be sure I have asked the bank to cancel my current card and re-issue, very inconvenient but does CAMHC care, not really i suspect, after all we are just the customers. Maybe they should go back to basics, providing sites/ pitches and ditch all this other peripheral stuff

Information from the club about the payments system used by Pump King:

The Pump-King website communicates with a company called Braintree using a token. Meaning when a user enters their card details they are actually entering this onto Braintree’s database not Pump-King; therefore Pump-King do not see or store card details.

Braintree is a service of PayPal and their privacy policy can be viewedhere.  Braintree are a well-regarded organisation and partner with many well-established companies such as Skyscanner, HungryHouse and Airbnb.

    Hello everyone,

I would like to reassure you all that the Pump King offer is definitely not available to CAMC staff.

Member offers are for Members only and staff cannot take advantage of any of these, unless they are also Members of The Club, with the exception of Great Days Out.

We are able to save on days out by producing a staff Membership card but we certainly do not have a special deal at Head Office with Pump King or any other organisation,

With regard to there being far more comments on Facebook than on Club Together, this is your Club forum and we do not want it to feel like a "Big Brother" situation, where we are always watching.

You are probably aware that us Club Together agents spend the majority of our working week taking calls, emails and web chats from Members.

We want our Members to continue to enjoy the freedom of discussing all things touring related.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that you enjoy the extra hour, with the clocks going back.

I have never thought of any "big brother" influence on here, quite the opposite, I think that's what people were implying.

I hope the situation has improved and people have had their money returned. Unexpected extra work for the company concerned?

Pump King is doing my head in. I've lost count of the number of texts I've had today. Their website is down. Does anyone know if this can be cancelled any other way?

Just had two more texts whilst writing this!

So far I’ve had 27 texts off them, makes me wonder if the club ever vet these pathetic company’s before telling us how great they are.

    31 texts now and counting

Seems everyone is getting these infernal texts and there is no way to block them. Further enforces my decision to never use this and wish I had never signed up for it and will never trust a caravan club offer again!

I’ve now received over 35 texts this morning from Pump King, anyone know how to stop them - tried to block contact but no use. Plus the fuel price is dearer than local Esso station; how is that a benifit !!!!

I signed up for Pump-King only to find that payment was only allowed using a debit card - poorly communicated!

Now today I have received at least 60 messages (and continuing) quoting petrol prices which I don't want and can't seem to stop - would someone at the club please sort his out asap!!!!!

I signed up for pump-king card back in November last year. It took until the middle of February of this year for me to receive my card. Now I am being bombarded with text messages every couple of seconds from pump-king and I have had to switch off my mobile to stop receiving them, not what I need. I have tried to get onto their web site to cancel my card only to find a message saying site not recognised.cry

Hi, we are getting the multiple text msg today and  blocking them isn’t working. Since the website is also down and they haven’t spammed us before I would think that they have an IT issue. That I can accept ( one of us is an IT professional!). What I can’t accept is the fact that the discounts still make the fuel more expensive than our local garages. Once the website is back up we will cancel.

I received my card. I haven't used it yet, but if you look online, their website is down, several hundred of us have received dozens and dozens of text messages with their weekly price. Census of opinion is that their site has been hacked. If this is so, the fuel card is linked with our /your debit card! I have cancelled our debit card today because of this, as have other people.

I'll not bother again with a 'discount' fuel card!!
