Flags on caravans on club sites Update
with reference to my thread a few months ago about flags on caravans at club sites I have now seen for myself what the consequences could be
whilst in Hurn lane site at brean it happened to be the western week and a lot of vans on the commercial sites close by had flags up and it made the sites look awful and cheap
at hurn lane one caravan had a flag up yes only one but it was a proper metal flag pole with a draw cord and pulley on the top which kept banging against the pole ( if I was next to them I would be having words with them ) anyway back to the story , strong winds where forecast for the evening and throughout the night, the next morning on my way to the shower block guess what had happened yes you got it it had snapped and was down luckily it had fallen the other way thus avoiding the new motor home on the other pitch
this persons childishness behaviour could have caused a lot of damage to another persons outfit I guess there also would not have had liability insurance so the other person would have to cough up for the damage should it had happened
the club has got to stop this from happening in the future this time it was a near miss but next time it could be a different outcome, if you had a near miss in work something would be done about it !

Looks like all the trees on sites will have to have their branches removed as well, and all the water and waste containers taken inside, and handrails provided along all path and road ways so peole walking don't get blown. And, of course, a complete ban on the use of hats and umbrellas.

"childishness behaviour" - how exactly ?
That is one long sentence.

Pretty sure the thread was weeks rather than months ago but doesn't time fly when you're having fun
Whatever the timescale I'm struggling to care too much about whether it makes a site look cheap. It's a club site. It's not cheap by definition.
I've said many times that I use a flag at festivals but haven't on site so far but if I wanted to I would. I'd not be leaving it up if wind was forecast. That was silly.
As I have a flag I'm very childish so 'having words' would have no impact.

And there's me thinking the only reason anyone put up a flag, or a load of lights, was to be able to find their vehicle late at night when they came back from the ablutions - sober or otherwise.

I have always found the sound of halliards rattling against sailing boat masts to be very evocative, reminding me of childhood holidays at the seaside. We have a whippy glass fibre flagpole with a fish for a flag, but we wouldn't dream of using it on a CC site in case it made someone happy, and that wouldn't do, would it?

What's the problem the CMC sell the dam flags, nearly bought one at Sandringham a few years back for when the Grandson comes with us. Always someone Hitching to have go at something or nothing, same people are anti children, seen to many negative posts on here lets have some positive ones for a change

I'm not a lover of flags having failed to understand what they are for but I have recently been enlightened.
The reason for my conversion occurred on a site equipped with a fish and chip wagon.
Having decide on a fish and chip supper my wife was dispatched to make the purchase, I would have gone but it was quite windy and raining hard so I stayed in and to check the temperature of the wine and the warming plates all the while keeping watch for my returning spouse.
Now I should point out that my wife's sense of direction is not as good as it once was, poor thing so she apparently wandering off in the same direction to that which she had arrived at the chip dealer. I occasionally caught sight of her searching among distant caravans to see if any were ours; she had apparently remembered that our van is white but forgotten the other details.
The upshot was that by the time she eventually arrived within earshot of our van our meal was cold. I feel that this is a problem that needs my urgent attention and possibly the solution is a particularly gaudy flag on a very tall pole to assist her return from future fieldtrips.

We sometimes deploy a discreet Jolly Roger. It made us a lot of friends in Cornwall, especially atop St Piran's Cross! Yo ho ho and a bottle of.........whatever you fancy! Two dips at the going down of the sun, and friends knew dinner was ready!

How can you do such a thing, your poor Wife. Do you not have one of those insulated food boxes she could have taken with her.........

That would be a good start at Borrowdale & Kendal sites......
