with reference to my thread a few months ago about flags on caravans at club sites I have now seen for myself what the consequences could be

whilst in Hurn lane site at brean it happened to be the western week and a lot of vans on the commercial sites close by had flags up and it made the sites look awful and cheap

at hurn lane one caravan had a flag up yes only one but it was a proper metal flag pole with a draw cord and pulley on the top which kept banging against the pole ( if I was next to them I would be having words with them ) anyway back to the story , strong winds where forecast for the evening and throughout the night, the next morning on my way to the shower block guess what had happened yes you got it it had snapped and was down  luckily it had fallen the other way thus avoiding the new motor home on the other pitch

this persons childishness behaviour could have caused a lot of damage to another persons outfit I guess there also would not have had liability insurance so the other person would have to cough up for the damage should it had happened

the club has got to stop this from happening in the future this time it was a near miss but next time it could be a different outcome, if you had a near miss in work something would be done about it !

"childishness behaviour" - how exactly ?

    That is one long sentence.

Would you be bothered then if it hit your outfit ?

And there's me thinking the only reason anyone put up a flag, or a load of lights, was to be able to find their vehicle late at night when they came back from the ablutions - sober or otherwise.

It doesn't bother me. In fact even when I'm at a festival with thousands of others I can't say I've ever heard noise from flagpoles

Minor noise, childishness, 'cheapening' a site are all issues that I'm not a bit bothered about

I have always found the sound of halliards rattling against sailing boat masts to be very evocative, reminding me of childhood holidays at the seaside. We have a whippy glass fibre flagpole with a fish for a flag, but we wouldn't dream of using it on a CC site in case it made someone happy, and that wouldn't do, would it?

What's the problem the CMC sell the dam flags, nearly bought one at Sandringham a few years back for when the Grandson comes with us. Always someone Hitching to have go at something or nothing, same people are anti children, seen to many negative posts on here lets have some positive ones for a change

I don't have one but quite like to see them as they tend to break up some of the regimentation of club siteswink

I personally dislike them. But each to their own.

Some people are pathetic. It could have been an awning blowing away or furniture left outside. I am sure we have all seen incidents. Get on with YOUR holiday and forget about everyone else.

I just counted up five flag threads on here.....put flags into the search box at the top and hoist them up....some people must be in a continuous flap. wink

"Ooo, look Mavis those Chavs in the next field are really bringing the tone down." "Look they've got Confederacy flags, skull and crossbones, gaudy coloured birds, fish and even twirly things flying from fishing poles, how awful!".

We sometimes deploy a discreet Jolly Roger. It made us a lot of friends in Cornwall, especially atop St Piran's Cross! Yo ho ho and a bottle of.........whatever you fancy! Two dips at the going down of the sun, and friends knew dinner was ready!wink

Its the trees that make those sites. Proper in the country sites not just rows of cars/vans parking.
