We are also planning Ireland next year in our motorhome and being quite new to motorhoming we're also looking for advice!
After many trips to Ireland in the car we're not sure how taking a motorhome will work, so hopefully someone will have done it and can offer tips to us.

We spent 3 weeks in Ireland in September and loved it. Belfast, Antrim, Bushmills, Sligo, Galway and Dublin.... Observations from that trip.....
Lots and lots of rain, but stunning scenery, Sites are quite expensive and in the republic, up to 32 Euro in September plus showers and awnings and dogs are all extras... We just used the van and paid no extras. We found many sites had tarmac pitches as it is often so wet. Some of the sites we went to didn't accept bookings, first come first served. We also found some towns had height barriers on all car-parks and we even found barriers on some laybys. Galway has no motorhome signs on most of the seafront. We found most of the time the only site available was a long way from the towns and pubs..Lots of things are more expensive, 4.50 Euro for a pint in pubs, bottle of wine 9 Euro minimum in a supermarket ....just add at least 50% to uk prices in the republic.. In the north there are Tescos Asdas and Lidls same as uk... Diesel was 1.20 euro per ltr. Petrol was 1.35.. Some motorways are paid for too, but are reasonable we thought.
Would we go again ..oh yes... We need to do the bottom half ;-)
