I think the location of a site does influence the caravan/MH ratio.

2 sites we used in September, C&CC Salisbury and St Neots, which are both close to towns, had a much higher number of MHs than caravans.

I have noticed in the last two years an increase in the compulsion of the drivers of motor caravans to overtake trailer caravans (well, mine anyway!) on single carriageway roads such that the manoeuver is being carried out in less and less appropriate conditions.

In reflecting on what is happening I wonder if the phenomenon is due to the increased number of motor caravans in use, which implies that many of them will be driven by people with little or no previous experience of driving a large vehicle. There also seems to be a difficulty in judging width and I suspect the drivers are following the right-hand edge of the road without considering the gap between their vehicle and one overtaken.  I have observed a similar situation when watching busses and lorries being overtaken.

I don't think the differential in speed limits makes much difference as the overtaking motor caravans generally don't get all that far ahead over time anyway.

A kind though!  But road speed and journey times seems to have remained consistent over the years since giving up the Series II Land Rover.

Quite sure my Discovery could make full use of a 60mph limit instead.

Well -it already does on a dual carriageway.

The 50/60 limits are a bit wanting in logic. For a single-lane-each-side dual carriageway the limit is 60mph. For a multi-lane single carriageway it is 50mph.

If some of these 3.5 tonne plus motorhomes only have 130 odd bhp, I'm surprised they can even think of over taking stuff on an A/B road.
