Van As A Tow Car?

Hi everybody,

I'm considering a new van which I'd like to use for towing our caravan as well as for my work.

However I'm wondering how the club is with this as I realise some campsites have a negative view on the whole van plus caravan thing.

Having said that, my van would be a nice one, nearly new, not sign written, a nice colour and not white and will be the 'combi' style with side windows.

Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

You will have absolutely no problem on caravan club sites and will probably not be alone in your choice of tow vehicle on many of their sites.

    Easy is absolutely right.

The only thing that might happen on club sites is that, if it is a site with small pitches, you might be asked to park in the car park but it's unlikely.

Afilliated sites might apply different criteria.

I towed with a Mercedes Vito van for five years and never had any problems on any sites.  UK and Spain, Portugal and France.

I use a 2011 Renault Trafic sport crew van in plain white top spec with upgraded alloys. Pulls the van a treat, stable as a rock and everything can go in the back instead of the caravan with plenty of room for my 3 children.

Never had a problem on any site.

I used my black VW Transporter Sportline to tow our van. Never any problems on any sites. Perfect tow vehicle.
