Its a well known problem across the Pegasus and Unicorn range.
Speak to your dealer - there is a replacement / fix

I have a 2016 unicorn 3 Madrid and I also have ongoing problems with the seat cushions and back rests going soft and leaving indents.
The inside of the cushions have been replaced once but after a 2 week holiday they have again become misshapen. I am currently waiting to hear back from my dealer who is contacting Bailey, it took 6 weeks last time & I don't expect it will be any quicker this time.
The replacement foam is a slightly different design to the original, but still misshapes. It has a kind of honeycomb structure, and I believe it is being used to reduce manufacturing costs and weight.
A company called Belfield make the inserts on Baileys behalf. They are a company who make furnishings for the caravan industry, I have spoken to them and more substantial fillings are available but they put in what Bailey specify. I asked Belfield if I could get a more substantial foam and they recommended a spring encapsulated foam at a cost of £327!
I am hoping Bailey will meet the cost of replacing the foam with a more substantial product.
Rather worryingly I recently went to my local dealers to have a look at the new Unicorn 4, and they are using the same foam as in the Unicorn 3 so I don't think this problem is going to go away anytime soon.

We have exactly the same problem in our Madrid S3 with both the seat cushions and back rests.  The seat cushions showed indents after only 3 trips out.  The dealer has been sent photos and raised the issue with Bailey, as we use the van once a month we have agreed to return all the cushions in November for replacement.  Must say the bed is a bit uncomfortable with the dips in the cushions.

This has been raised before and at that time, I posted my solution to the identical problem we had with our 2015 Barcelona, after about 6 months.  Having discussed it with my dealer, he advised that they could be changed under warranty but that the replacement foam wouldn't be much better.  I decided to bite the bullet and went to a local upholstery firm who re-filled the cushions with a high-quality foam - but at a cost of £250.  This company, based in Bridlington specialises in caravan upholstery and advised that this was a common problem across all makes and wasn't just a cost issue - but also one concerned with weight saving.  I have to say that the new cushions are far heavier now than the originals, but the problem has been sorted and two years on, we don't have a problem.

When I was looking for our present caravan we did look at a couple of Baileys (no idea which) but didn't think much of the seating and went for a Lunar Clubman instead. Looking at those cushions on such a recent caravan and after so little usage would put me right off. Our present caravan has been used for 700 nights so far and the seating is fine.

Hello, do you have any contact details of the firm you used in Bridlington?

I think I may also have to pay for a more substantial foam and it may be wise to make enquires with the firm that fixed the problem for you.

    Many thanks

    Con - it was Ian Watson Upholstery - 20 Church Green, Bridlington, YO16 7JX, 01262 609892.

It's only a small place but they did a good job and it only took a couple of days or so. As I said, he told me that they had seen a lot of this problem - across all makes and I think you will be horrified when you see the original foam - as he was!  Be warned though - it does increase the weight significantly but with a T/A Barcelona. I wasn't too concerned.

Yes, I could have got into a protracted argument with the dealer / Bailey but given what I had spent on the van, £250 wasn't a lot to sort the problem once and for all.

Con - PS - the £250 was just for the two seat bases - I didn't bother with the backrests which weren't too bad - so the £327 quote from Bellfield isn't far off the mark.

    Richardandros.

Thank you very much for the information.

I am going to the caravan show at the NEC and will

Talk to the Bailey representatives before deciding which way to go.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the thread   -   we've only had our Unicorn lll since July, and after about 24 nights, we too are beginning to see " saggy seat syndrome ".

Will follow the courses of action suggested on here.

    Thanks again.

We currently have a Lunar and we were looking at the Unicorn IV the other day and thought the cushions were`nt the best quality. Our current Lunar has seat cushions as good as new after two years usage.
