Surprised no ones picked up on this.

Typical French action causes fuel shortages. This has been goin on since Monday and apparently is worsening

Over 300 fuel stations across France have experienced partial shortages or have totally run out of fuel as truck drivers continue to protest against President Emmanuel Macron's labor law reforms, signed into law on Friday, media reported Tuesday.

We are currently working our way up from the Med coast  (Agde) we were warned before we left, so have been topping up at the half tank, however we've  not had any problems so far or seen any signs out saying no fuel. The price has gone up though. Currently at Tours with a full tank so should make it into Belgian before we need to fill up, cheaper there too..

    Hi Tammygirl,

Thanks for this ‘real life’ update. We are towing towards Burgundy from next weekend and are thus trying to keep an eye on the fuel situation. After initial reports of problems of some panic buying last Monday, none of the French regional papers seem to have been carrying any further stories on this on their websites. We would be grateful for others’ experiences in France at the moment and during this next week.

    Many thanks.

    Cheers

Perhaps this link might be better for keeping up to date?

Came up through France from Costa Brava last thursday/Friday. No problems with fuel. Last fill up in Rouen. Did have my UK card refused by automatic station between Dreux and Nonancourt. Rationing?

Unlikely!  Is it a pre-paid card?  If so, then it may well be refused at all automatic fuel stations.  A credit card may be similarly refused if you are towards the top of your credit limit. Occasionally at the weekend all cards are refused (so we were told by a French man, who said never to fill up late on Saturday, or on a Sunday) so it may not be a fault with the card, or rationing, but simply 'one of those things'.

Tried to fill up at Chaumont couple of weeks ago (Sunday) auto machine swallowed the card, said 'incorrect pin', (it wasn't). Then tried the credit card elsewhere to find the pin had been blocked. Tried a different card Inside a supermarket later that day only to have that refused, but at least it wasn't blocked. Added problems, 1. French ATMs don't have the facility to unblock pins! 2. Rarely will supermarkets have non-auto pumps operating on Sundays.

Passing through  Rouen yesterday (Sunday) saw our first sign saying 'no diesel' its the only one we've seen. We are at camping St Claire @ Neufchatel, not heard anyone saying they have had problems, not spoke to everyone obviously wink
