Just seen an advert for an up and coming program on Channel 5 called "Celebrities on 5 go motor-homing" don't know if either Club is behind this or we just have some more staff that want to make themselves look right pill****.

Since it starts with the word "celebrity" I'll give it a miss ( a bit like anything involving antanddec)! wink

Would agree with you M normally, but Lesley Joseph comes across quite well, we went to see the Strictly Tour and she is a hard working and entertaining lady....

We also like the guy who plays the Chief of Police in Death in Paradise, he's a great actor in that TV show....

The recent series in the same vein where a bunch of minor celebs were on a canal boat was quite watchable with a glass of wine in your paw.....

We will be giving it a try.....!

Hi, Tt115 you are correct it does commence on Friday. I agree it could turn out to be enjoyable if the focus is on the places they visit and difficulties the celebrities have to overcome, and not just the celebrities building up their egos. Just let's hope it's not a remake of caravaner of the year?.

The Caravan and Motorhome Club assisted the celebrities in the soon to be aired show Celebrity 5 Go Motorhoming by providing the motorhome manoeuvring training to build their confidence, showing them how to manoeuvre, carry out safety checks, provide essential maintenance and explain the motoring laws affecting motorhome drivers. The Club also arranged for them to stay at its Coed-Y-Llywn Club Site in Wales. I'm really looking forward to watching this on Friday night. smile

If it is going to be on the lines of the canal boat series it could be quite watchable

I thought the personalities envolved made it rather entertaining. I was also on the Gower and the Brecons just before the Bank Holiday so it made it even more watchable although what idiot takes a large motorhome down such narrow roads! I know some narrow roads are unavoidable at times but to be on tenderhooks as to what might be coming the otherway or what you might hit is not my idea of fun if it can be avoided. That's TV for you and you don't have to worry if the motorhome is not yours and you don't have to cough up for any damage to your pride and joy.

Well me and the missus were aghast.....

They flipping made it look like the perfect pastime, the sun was out, the beaches deserted, the sea glistening blue, rolling onto two front line pitches with a sea view and tasty looking BBQ's.....

For heavans sake it's not really like that.......

Show us the traffic, the rain, the fights at 12 noon for a pitch....

All that program has done has encouraged more people to go out and buy a M/H, now we will never get a booking over a bank holiday weekend.....

The Club should be ashamed of itself for such blatant encouragement of people into the sport......

    wink

Although I quite enjoyed it I thought it was just a massive 'free' advert for the Caravan Club, Marquis and Wales. I certainly wouldn't want to own those 'one careful owner' ex display model vans after that road trip. I gather it must have been filmed early July in that really hot week we had followed by rain, is Wales normally that hot?

All I hope is that it doesn't inspire loads more people to buy Motorhomes, the service garages and campsites are already getting far too busy for my liking, it's starting to reduce my liking for the hobby sometimes 😊

Hoot a minute, shows you how to go down 6ft 6 lanes, how to take off you wing mirror, sorry earrings! You have to have watched it to get that one , how not to hook up and finally how to spend the night in a yurt. Glad to that the club endorsing such rubbish.

Only my opinion but what a pointless program.

All it does is give some has been's a bit of air time and income, it does nothing to get across what the hobby is actually like in the real world, I wonder if in future episodes they will deal with issues like setting up, dealing with the toilet cassette, filling and emptying the water tanks, etc, etc. I'm also not so sure the mirror stunt wasn't set up either. No damage to the outer shell and the mirror picked up didn't like it came from that housing ? I could be wrong?

Like I said, only my opinion and my comments are not intended to upset anyone who enjoyed it smile

Just goes to show though the CMHC does allow premium pitches to be reserved, it just depends who you are smile

I wonder if you and I paid for their site fees etc..  IMO it's about time that the club stopped sponsoring and boasting about this type of inane programme.

    Plus one.

Maybe start really looking at the available payloads on new motorhomes and caravans??

Much better for their reputation than it being further dragged through the mud after a scandal or several where there have been serious accidents or prosecutions for the less wary on overweight. After all if it sleeps 4 or 6 or whatever it would be reasonable to expect to carry as a minimum that amount of passengers and their clean underwear 😲.

Watched it tonight on catch-up, forgetting the bits going down the narrow roads etc  (am sure was all set up and roads closed), have to say the places they visited were amazing of course helped by the weather also knew all the celebs so for me all in all enjoyable.

Whatever its failings, it was a darn site better than COTY.

Well done the girls.  Two of the three men are wimps!  Lovely scenery despite the bad weather.  Roll on Scotland next week.

Yes, a rather more realistic portrayal of the hobby this episode.

Nice that Nick Heyward vowed to buy a campervan himself.

Agree and I had a good laugh in places, mind you they did rather gloss over getting to New Quay sea front although I did see some smaller motorhomes parked in the car park at the top of the town when there last month.

Watched both episodes back-to-back last night and it was a travelogue type of programme about people using Motorhomes and was entertaining and enjoyable.

Despite the Celebs initial misgivings the way the programme was put together showed that most of them were growing into the Motorhome life.

It wasn't a 'put down' or cynical look at them but just a bit of fun to entertain the viewers.

Emptying cassettes, filling and/or emptying with water, normal practice for most of us, isn't exactly entertaining to watch and I can understand why the basics are better left out and the more pleasant side of life on the open road is enhanced.

Whatever your opinion of the 'Celebs' and their banter you can't deny that it wasn't as crass or embarrassing as the previous comedy show about 'Caravanner of the Year' which brought merriment to most people for all the wrong reasons.

Roll on Scotland - and another enjoyable hour of viewing.

Well, it's all finished the end of the road has been reached and I must say it was better than I expected. Could have something to do with the club not getting too involved at least not on camera. Saw plenty of roads that we drove along during our visit to Scotland this year and plenty of roads in Wales we intend on driving along next year. Ok, not all the celebs took to it like they should have but in the end, they were piling praise onto the Life. I can see the next series been Celebrities on 5 go Motorhoming in Europe.
