The vole didn't take much notice of us and was happy to continue feeding, that is until, the big lens brigade came crashing in, but as I'd already got nearly 30 pics we just left them to it.  Think they are are group of tick box birderssurprised.

Glad you have got out and about in our area Blue.  We are off to Barleywood next week so a couple of strong easterly winds would bring some rarities to our shores.

I see someone got pics of a spotted Crake in Hornchurch, Essex but I can't find a precise location.

We missed Strumpshaw this time around, but on the list fornext year. Hoping for a trip in October if weather is good, so might make the east coast one more time this year.

we did see a vole ar Slimbridge earlier this year but no pics.

    OP

Looks like the Crake is at Hornchurch Country Park

When we were at Titchwell earlier this summer, there was not a lot about. When do the winter birds start to arrive, would there be more around in October?

Lots of Geese, yellow browed warblers and waders arriving daily.  October is usually a good time to be up here

Great photo, Oneputt. I've never seen a water vole, maybe next week?

Did you walk along the path on the right, lovely views from there. Apparently the dolphins was in the quay in New Quay today.  Hope you are enjoying the beauty of Cardiganshire.

Agree that it's a great photo,OP. We've only ever seen one Water Vole and that was on one of the weirs on Lathkil Dale, below Monyash, many years ago.

Yes, I was joking, I am the least competitive person witness the fact that I shared the location.

6 large birds of prey circling at different altitudes. Think kites as they're meowling.

Loads more geese - easy to identify by noise and formation 😉. Actual variety unknown.

Loving being a Burnham Wick but sad not seen any owls and only seen the hares once 😔

    Thanks OP

Van in for service 2nd Oct and remains of hurricane due 1st week of Oct so second week is looking favourable.

We stayed at Cakes and Ale last time which is near Titchwell. Looked at Sycamore which is just up the road, so another option is welcome if we make it over.

I thought that the Cake and Ale campsite was close to Minsmere, unless there is another one.  I stay at a CL called Fishers Field which is really good and gas 2 hard standings, 2 wet rooms, pub a short stroll away.  I will hopefully be staying there sometime in October.

Good trip to Minsmere today, plenty of bearded tit activity and a bittern in flight.  Limited where we could go due to a lot of areas not wheelchair friendly.

Funnily enough, NTH, we also saw a Merlin today whilst walking around Orford Ness. Also saw a Lesser Whitethroat, Spotted Redshank, both Chats and a lovely unidentified Spider. (Hope the weather's keeping up for you.)

Decided on a walk from Minsmere and over Dunwich Heath to the Eels Foot pub and back via the sluices, for those that know it. It's a shortish circular walk of about 5 miles.

We popped into a couple of the more accessible hides at Minsmere and were rewarded with sightings of a Juvenile Red Phalarope. This is quite a dizzying spectacle as those that have seen one would agree. The bird keeps going around in circles picking flies off the surface of the water, a bit like watching a dog chasing its tail.

Also saw wonderful Bearded Tits right in front of the Island Hide, and a Cettis Warbler, so a good day was had.

We didn't get to see the Phalarope WN so a little envious. The east hide isn't wheel chair friendly, in fact, to be honest, a lot of Minsmere isn't very suitable for disabled folk.  It's a pity really for such a popular reserve.

Sorry to hear about that OP.

Actually the bird is a Red Necked Phalarope as opposed to a Red Phalarope, just in case anyone gets confused.

For those of you who are dedicated nature lovers and enjoy visiting CL's I recommend the Blog Posts of Fred who publishes 'Two Dogs and Awning' and provides detailed maps and descriptions of each of his many hundreds of walks and nature observations the length and breadth of the country.

As you will see he has taken some fabulous photos of the wildlife on his walks from Cholsey Grange, where we guarantee you will see Red Kites from your van (we will give you your entire pitch fee back if you don't see a Red Kite while you stay with us) and you are more than likely to see fallow deer etc.

To make it really easy, we even have on-line booking, so don't delay, and book your pitch for autumn 2017 or 2018 with us today!  Unlike Club Sites you don't have to wait to book next year!

Not convinced?  Take a look at our many 5 starreviews..

Had a nice day at Minsmere today. Saw a couple of Curlew Sandpipers, a couple of Little Stints, Hobbies catching dragonflies and a beautiful Small Copper butterfly, no bigger then my thumb nail.

The Phalarope seems to have headed on south.

Walked along the Pembroke Coastal Path eastwards from Martin's Haven. Lots of seals with their pups in the coves, still some skylarks about, and Stonechats calling from the gorse. No Choughs though, unfortunately.

Can anyone identify which bird these may have come from? They were close together but not necessarily from the same bird. I picked them up whilst we were at Burnham Wick Farm  CL which is opposite Wallasey Island if that's any help.

Bakers2. The feathers, if they are quite large, might be from a Buzzard.
