TDA, Totnes has probably changed a bit since you visited. There is a large Morrison's at the bottom of the town, by the Dart. It always seems busy there, lots of visitors but still a nice place. There is a good walking tour made by local school children that takes you round the old alleyways, buildings and the castle. I picked the leaflet up at the tourist office which is near Morrison's and the bus stops. A lot of people do the round robin bus, boat and steam train tour. Hmm, I'm missing my Steamer Quay stay writing this.

Totnes sounds lovely, we visited Hebden Bridge a few weeks ago, and really liked the town, so think I'd like Totnes, can't remember ever visiting the town when we have been in Devon.
Phoned up re shower screen, which still hadn't been delivered, spoke to the boss this time, it should be delivered beginning of next week. Not that we are waiting for it, as haven't got the new bath fitted yet.😂

Hope you get all your work done soon Helen, we have an increasing back log of things to do. We were just starting to think about it all when we had an e mail from relatives in Australia saying they would be in the UK early October.
Now in a flat spin knowing the house just won't be ready at all.0 -

Having problem with quote facility but to answer your quextion,. We park at Blythburgh church, there's a car park to the south of it just off the A12. Then cross the A12 and walk down the path between the White Hart and the couple of houses towards the Blyth river. The path can be picked up on your right and passes the bottom of the pubs beer garden. It's a decent path and leads to the heath at Walberswick. You have to join the road near a farm house for about 100 yards then bear left across the heath land towards Southwold water tower. We bought some crab from "Susannahs" on the quay and then headed into Walberswick to The Bell for a pint. Nice pub.
For the return head up the road out of Walberswick to the Church and turn right until you get to the crossroad paths across the heath and turn left to retrace your route. Fairly easy with an OS map. Took us about 3and a half hours of walking and an hour of eating and drinking! About 7-8 miles in total depending on whether you want to visit Southwold.

brue.....where would be the best place to park in Totnes? We will probably have a spare couple of hours tomorrow afternoon so thought we might take a look around then.
Today, as it was so nice, we decided to go to Dartmouth, we drove down via Totnes, which was one huge traffic jam, and came back via the main ferry. Used the park and ride as the parking in Dartmouth was all full, had a walk around, bought sandwiches for lunch and ate them in the gardens. Saw the Dolphin Inn, and the sign for the Man Creche!
Town was very busy as were all the roads going and coming back.

The Totnes pounds sounds a very interesting concept. I think I remember reading something about it a few years ago. We used to go to Devon a lot many years ago but never visited Totnes.

Brue, I hope you get all your house jobs done in time. Nothing like an impending visit to spur you on to get things done. That's how it works for me anyway.
We had our flu jabs this afternoon. Our surgery are now doing them on Thursday afternoons and evenings instead of Saturday mornings so we thought we would go and get it over and done with. We popped in after we had fetched the grandsons from school and were in and out in 10 minutes.

If you're coming in from Ramslade you have a choice Kj. You could follow the club site Steamer Quay directions and park just past the site by the Dart. Retrace your route on foot to town. Or you could go over the bridge after Bridgetown and turn left at the bottom of town. Or maybe, if its a very quick visit use the Morrison's car park and cross the road to the main street, it's steep in parts. There is a vg museum on the left and the castle is further up on the right. Plenty of coffee stops too.

Yes, saw the sign for Coleton Fishacre on our way back today. Might be something for Sunday if the weather holds.
Totnes will be a visit of no more than 2 hours I think. We are meeting a friend for an early lunch at Fermoys Garden Centre just north of Ipplepen, so probably be leaving there by 3.
We do not want to do too much walking as OH's gout has flared up again so one of her toes is a bit painful if she walks for too long.
Doc gave her some pills to take with us on holiday, just in case, but one lot of them seems to have somehow not come with us. If it does not settle down we will need to find a local GP to get a new supply.

Did a circular walk today, tide in so river was full. Spotted a ?harrier? hovering but it missed it's dinner. Lots of skiens of geese, love the sound of them. Pointless looking for the barn owl this time 😢. Still lots of swallows and swifts.

Lovely sunny start to the day in my adopted home county with the promise to be the same for the next 10 days or so. Hope the predictions of more bad weather from across the Atlantic doesn't materialise otherwise my first prediction could be pointless.
Off to RSPB Minsmere again this morning, taking BIL along, was hoping he would reserve (no pun intended) motorised buggy but he said that was pointless as I'm a big enough lad to wheel him about in his wheelchair.

Sunny here this morning, so looks like we may get another fine day. OH's toe is no worse, so hopeully up to a walk around Totnes in the afternoon.
On a different subject....
We are using the C&CC site at Salisbury, do they have an earliest arrival time? Forgot to check when we booked.

Lovely start to morning here, although rather chilly despite sunshine earlier on! An early swim for me, and I have to pay later for a chance remark last night to OH.....we need to go and look at a car apparently!
