Sizing your Awning

Hi, I’m Eileen from the Technical Team at the Club.

We often get asked about awnings and the sizing of them which to a lot of people is confusing. Manufacturers give the sizes as for example 10.20m  but what does this mean?  This measurement is from the ground up, along the top of the caravan and back down to the ground. The picture below demonstrates this.  Length A = full awning. Length B = porch or combi awning.  If choosing a porch or half awning (length B in the diagram), make sure the part that runs vertically down the side of the caravan does not go over the refrigerator vent or window.

Does anyone have any recommendations to members looking to buy an awning?

The problem is when you compare different awning manufacturers, and look at the size range for their awning size, it can vary from one to another.  So it might be a size 11 from company A, but size 12 from company B.

    Hi Eileen

Can you please inform everyone that if you own a Avondale the chances are your awning rail may be to low and then spend a load of time looking for something that doesn't exist! as our awning rail is only 216 cm high?

Also why as a member of staff there is No Picture of you?
