What are you all up to

Thanks H&T. Perhaps the one you stayed at was the same hotel. It's an old hotel that has been here for many years. I remember it from my childhood.
Having said that, there are a lot of hotels, restaurants and guest houses all along the sea front. Closer to the town centre, there's Chatsworth Hotel and Arlington Hotel both overlooking Steyne Gardens.

Perhaps you're a bit too close to that hurricane affected Atlantic Ocean, there in Cornwall, KjellNN. It seems from what they say that this kind of weather is common at this time of year. The hurricane season apparently. You need to come further over to the south-east where we are. We're getting plenty of sunshine here and perhaps a little too hot in the afternoon so you might need to use your aircon! Northbrook Farm club site has hard standing pitches which would suit you and low cost at this time of year. If you prefer a site with toilet blocks then Littlehampton Club site would suit you. They have hard standing too.

We've just got up and now getting ready to go downstairs for breakfast. They serve breakfast later this morning as it's Sunday. So one hour from now!
It's hard to get used to all these set times when we're used to doing things whenever we want in the caravan. We miss the fridge and having our own cooking facilities. It's a long time between dinner at 6 p.m. and breakfast at 8 a.m. That's 14 hours with nothing to eat! In the caravan, I often wake up in the night for a cup of tea and a sandwich.
There is a kettle in the room with sachets of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk but the milk runs out after two cups of tea.
Anyhow, just one more night and we'll be back in our caravan for the next 21 nights. By that time, hopefully, my hands will be better enough to manage a move to a nearby site for 2 nights before returning to Northbrook Farm for another 21 nights. Of course, the biggest challenge then will be managing the awning. After that it will be getting near the end of the season.

For the first time, we got to see what the sea front looks like early in the morning, from our room window, when there no people or traffic! Plenty of blue sky and sunshine but a very quiet, peaceful scene and a subtle light due to it being close to dawn.
The room has a tv but it's wall mounted, close to the ceiling so younget a crick in your neck if you watch it for too long.
I really don't think hotel holidays suit us. There may be a lot of chores in the caravan such as emptying the toilet and wastemaster and filling the Aquaroll everyday but how much better it is to have the freedom to have a cup of tea whenever you want and plenty of milk and other food in the fridge where you can just help yourself all for just £12 a night on many CLs compared to £117 per night in this hotel, no cooker, no fridge just a room with tea and coffee making facilities. Also, the cups are too small for me. I'm used to a large mug of tea in the caravan and two to three mugs of it with plenty of milk, not just a small sachet!

No specific breaks planned yet although it has to go back to Sussex Caravans for a second solar panel to be fitted as the one they fitted is not up to the capacity that I specified as part of the deal. It's a case of finding a gap in the diary to do it.

I know what you mean, CY. We still haven't got our fridge control panel fixed yet for the same reason. The local call out company are still waiting to get the part which they said is on order but no date fixed yet when it can be done. When it does get done, we'll have to foot the bill because it's over the 2 year warranty. Anyhow, at least you got your licence medical sorted out which makes all the difference because you now have the freedom of the road once again. Make the most of it and enjoy visiting beautiful places!

I have no idea bakers2. In all our caravanning years we have been lucky and never had to take a wet awning down. As it is only a lightweight one I am hoping to get it over the rotary dryer in the garden and dry it that way. In is very damp and misty here at the moment.

That sounds a really interesting day Nellie. Glad it stayed dry for you.

We've just finished breakfast and I'm now logged into the hotel wifi. It was a buffet style breakfast with everything laid out and you just had to go up and help yourself. There was a huge choice of cereals plus continental breakfast of croissants. Then there was a chice of fruit, yoghurt, brown or white toast, jam or marmalade and cooked breakfast as well served at the table. We had a little of everything and for the cooked breakfast we opted for kippers with melted butter, thyme and a slice of lemon.
We had a table next to the window with a lovely view over the sea front, sunshine and blue sea.
Last night was uncomfortable though. I had the fan right next to me and I was still too hot. My wife couldn't sleep very well either because of the heat and the window doesn't open. Another, one more night like this before we can get back to our caravan with air-conditioning and other creature comforts!

Milliehull I hope you're right and the awning will go over the rotary drier and that the mist lifts to a beautiful sunny day 😉.
Cyberyacht I missed welcoming you to the dark side. Bit of a nuisance that they've not fitted the specified size solar panel. Did they own up or you discover later? You'll soon be very familiar with controls, in fact a quick trip and overnight or two will help resolve what each switch does 😂.
Malcolm you can always ask for extra supplies for your room for tea making 😉
Have a great day everyone.
My friend is visiting from Northumberland and I'm looking forward to a good catch up.
Hope our weather brightens some more rather grey, not cold but it's far too early for this 😔

Malcolm out of interest how did you manage buffet breakfast with your hands out of action? Do you have to have your meals cut up for you to manage with a fork? 😉😉
From how you've described your morning sounds like a wonderful day for a long walk along the sea front, drinking in the sea air (that should help with sleeping tonight) and working up an appetite/and burning off your breakfast.

Have a lovely time KjellNN. Make the most of the sunshine and dryness.
It does seem we are all experiencing some strange weather this year, worldwide.
Thankfully one thing we can be grateful for hurricanes are not a usual weather feature here, the odd named storm yes. Of course at present it's early in the year and the trees are still in full leaf.
By the sound of it the yellow weather warning of strong winds didn't effect you. There's a lot to be said for sheltered sites 😉

Nellie......had a look at Nurseries Caravan site, looks good, but unfortunately no vacancies for the dates we need. Tried some CLs in the area we wanted but no hardstandings available, so we will stick with the booking at Beechwood this time.
Will need to be organised earlier next time we go that way it seems.

Thanks B2, no doubt it would have been windy over at Trewethett, absolutely no shelter there.
It was a bit windy (and wet) here the day we arrived, but calm since then.
Watching TV last night we could hardly hear the dialogue over the noise of the rain on the van roof. I don't think we have ever experienced so much prolonged really heavy rain before, it was like someone had opened a tap!

It's not just the heat but the humidity too, Bakers2 and being near the coast, the humidity is at its greatest! Further inland it might not be quite so humid. Many people on this forum say they manage without air-conditioning. Yes , it's possible to live without it but it's awfully uncomfortable!

Yes, we find that too! When it rains heavily, it makes a huge noise. It's strange how with all this modern technology, they haven't found a way of insulating the noise from the patter of raindrops on caravan roofs!

Good to be home, lovely misty autumn morning here. Reading all your posts!
We went to see the Russian State Opera singing Tosca last night. We've seen them before, you have to get used to hearing Italian sung with Russian accents whilst watching an electronic board overhead doing English translations in what can only be described as predictive text. I managed to decipher "your apt attention" as your " rapt" but then I lost the plot! In one of the famous arias someone's husband got up for the loo and walked right in front of the orchestra pit! I ask you, highfalutin culture, no worries. The singing was beautiful apart from the distractions.

Technology is available put the subtitles on 😂😂😂
I quite like the sound of heavy rain on the van roof, makes me glad I'm not in a tent or homeless, but is a nice connection to our natural world. 5 minutes is adequate though 😉

I'm missing my relaxer, too. The room only provides an upright chair to sit on. I prefer to recline and fall asleep after a meal.

Try York city a tranquil site. On a bus route for trips into York. Beautiful bathrooms 😉. Adult only. Several years since we used but solid ground if not hardstanding.

It's no wonder you can't sleep at night Malcolm, you seem to sleep all day apart from when you're eating. 😲
Try getting some exercise during the day, I'am sure you'll sleep better at night.☺
