Had a lovely evening at the wedding reception last night, Dumbleton Hall is a wonderful setting for a wedding. Bride looked lovely, apparently her husband bought her Mercedes Convertible sports car as a wedding present!
Must have been lots of rain during the evening as the roads were flooded between Dumbleton and Stow, no rain when we reached home, the roads were dry.
OH is out changing the timing belt on the car, and I have given the house an autumn clean, cream crackered now!
so taking a break.
Weather very dull and chilly
Hope the weather improves in Cornwall and for all on holidays.

I thought it was a bit extravagant, but I don't think money is a problem, I didn't dare ask where they were going for their honeymoon
.
The wedding must have cost quite a lot too, very different to ours.

We've arrived at our hotel where we're booked in for two nights. We have to wait for check-in time which is 3 p.m.

Rain has started here. Straight down so not always noticeable. Luckily having lunch in the conservatory and heard it on the roof, quick dash out and it's all in 😃. Was dry as there are rain drop marks. Much brighter than its been for ages so very deceptive, grounds soaked already.
Afternoon plans for doing something now totally aborted 😔I'll iron and listen to an audio book or radio play.
Will someone please tell the weather it's mid September not November? Should we all blow hard to push the jetstream higher?

We got our car parking pass from reception to display on the front windscreen. We sat out on the terrace for a while with a view over the sea front but then it got too hot so we're sitting in the bar next to reception whilst we wait for our room to be ready.

I'm feeling hot at the moment although I must admit, it was chilly enough to need the heating early this morning! There are only fans here in the hotel bar. I'm missing the caravan aircon already! I suppose the heat helps them sell cold beer!

No, absolutely no reason other than to save walking about 3 metres further to the awning as far as I can see!
Yes, weather very disappointing, much better when we were here 2 years ago. On that trip we stayed a few nights at all grass Godrevy which was muddy as lifting groundsheets had not been enforced, but the weather itself was pretty good.

Decided not to venture out, so now waiting for a dry spell so I can venture out to fetch water.
Have booked the C&CC sites at Salisbury and St Neots instead of Hillside and Graffham water, so a saving of 3 x £3.45. Salisbury has mesh reinforced grass as hardstandings, rather than gravel, not sure about St Neots, but only 3 nights in total so not a problem. So few HSs at Hillside that we would probably have ended up on grass anyway.
The site at Old Sarum is well placed for visiting the town too, thanks for the suggestion brue.
Now to see about a site for York.

We finally got to check in at the Burlington Hotel at just after 3 p.m. and paid the £233 room charge for the two nights which included the £10 car parking pass, paid for by my Tesco credit card at 1 point for every £8 spend, so I reckon another 29 points earned!
Our room is on the top floor, so several flights of stairs to climb to get to it!
I was told at reception that lunches and dinners are all served in the bar including drinks and that anything ordered can be added to my room account and settled at check out on Monday. Todays bar opening times are 10:00 a.m. to 02:00 a.m. but lunch is 12:00 to 15:00 and dinner 18:00 to 21:00.
They have provided bath soak so I have just treated myself to a bubble bath for the first time in two years! The only regret is no aircon in the room but there are two miniature fans instead.
Anyhow, we had lunch at Macdonalds, Big Mac, medium fries and a strawberry milkshake. The Big Mac and fries were on special offer through my wifes bus tickets at £1.99 each, the milk shkes were £1.59 each, so the total bill for lunch was £7.16. After that we filled the Smart car with fuel before arriving at the hotel.

Our room has a view over the sea front and we can see the Isle of Wight in the distance. However, we have to stand up to see the view as the window is quite high up!

Well the house certainly looks cleaner after all my efforts today, it's just a shame it won't stsy like it.
Hubby however hasn't had such a good day, timing belt change hasn't gone as well as he had hoped, car still in bits, but the new belt is actually on. At least the rain stayed almost stayed away, just as couple of short showers. Think we might treat ourselves to a takeaway tonight together with a glass or two of wine.
Sorry to hear weather's not been good in Cornwall KjellNN, hope you can get out and about tomorrow.
Enjoy your "proper" holiday Malcolm. I stayed in a hotel on the seafront at Worthing years ago, can't remember which one though, can only remember when it rained water poured in round the windows, at least I wasn't paying for my stay.

Spent several hours at Sheringham for the 1940s it was packed with the majority dressed the part, and the shops and cafes and pubs all doing "their bit" a very good day ,will be going again tomorrow, only problem was new member became a bit overwhelmed and wanted to leave, so she spent an hour in her refuge (the back of the car)with windows open

Now that we have been here 24 hours, one thing I would say is that some of the site roads are very narrow, so depending on which pitch you choose, you may end up looking directly into the windows of the van across the road!
It has been too wet to venture out unnecessarily, so no idea whether all the roads are as narrow as the one we are pitched on.

Sitting in the Holiday Inn near Heathrow watching an old episode of The Chase so not a very exciting evening!
But tomorrow morning we fly off to Barcelona for a couple of weeks touring Catalonia and near the Pyrenees so it's worth it. We've got a very early start, have to check in at 5:40 so it looks like an early night is in order. Not sure how much WiFi we'll have "over there" but will try to keep looking in.

Have a great time Mr and Mrs Moulesy.

H&T, we've already eaten some of them, but may pick some more before we leave. We have made Damson vodka in the past, in fact there may be a bottle somewhere at the back of the drinks cabinet which will be well matured by now!!
Hope that all the parts go back into the car in the right order!!

Sun out when we got up this morning, rather a chill wind from the north but it warmed up later. Went for a cycle to the shops, came back a different way and got a little lost
OH says not lost just diverted. After lunch we went out again to explore along the river and down to the sea, then back along the river to have a look at another site we saw. Think we could return to this area in future years as its rather nice.
Site quieter today hardly any arrivals/departures. Plenty of Brits in this area only seen the odd 1 or 2 so far on this trip until now.

We are back from our week at Sandringham and although we had some rather challenging weather at times we had a good time. Yesterday and today were the wettest days so we had to take the awning down while it was still wet yesterday and are hoping for a dry today tomorrow so we can get it outside to dry. Today started off dry but just as we left the site the heavens opened and it hammered it down for the first 20 minutes with hail. It was quite frightening, and we have had a few more downpours since we got home. The beginning of the week was dry but very windy. I do hope the weather improves for you KjNN. Wet weather makes it such hard work and not a lot of fun.

Good news CY, glad you have got it all sorted now bet you can't wait to get away in it.
Have a good holiday moulsey.
Malcolm, have a good time, stop fretting about the aircon and enjoy yourself. Hope Mrs MM has a good break from all the chores

Have a good trip, Moulesy. Hope that the weather's better over there than many are having here at the moment.
Hope that the rains stops for you Kjell, and improves for the rest of your trip. Doubt that we'll try taking the van down that way, judging by the sounds of the narrow roads.
All the best for the new M/H, CY. When have you planned setting off to try it out?

Congratulations EasyT, where have you won them from?
Mousley enjoy Barcelona.
Dry weather for all those away.
Milliehull glad you had a nice week, that went very fast. Wish you a dry day tomorrow to dry the awning. Never had go dry anything similar, do you have to erect it?

It has been a decent day here in N.E Wales. We went to Chirk Castle today, and by chance there was a Medieval Re-enactment weekend on with the Cwmwd Ial and Les Miles des Marches groups. Firstly we went for a decent walk with Flyte round the grounds before watching a demonstration of different fighting styles. After lunch we had a wander through the tents where medieval skills such as fletching, and bone working were being demonstrated, then a walk round the castle gardens before the "re-enactment" Battle of Crogen, a skirmish between the vanguard of the forces of Henry II of England and an alliance of Welsh princes led by Owain Gwynedd which took place in the Ceiriog Valley, Wales in 1165.

We had our evening meal at the bar/restaurant downstairs, the lamb was off the menu so we both had ribeye steak instead with tomato and basil soup for starters. Both the soup and the steak were very nice and I had a cold beer to accompany it.
Being a Saturday evening, it was full of people and rather noisy! It was nice to have a table by the window though, overlooking the sea front. We had booked our table for 6 p.m. so it was still daylight. It was 7 p.m. by the time we finished and getting near sunset. After that we climbed the several flights of stairs feeling rather full after the meal and got back to our room for an early night.

The Pyrenees are a good place to go to get away from the heat, if it gets too hot in Barcelona, Chris, especially Andorra. It's nice and cool there. You can feel the drop in temperature as you get higher up the mountain. It's many years since I've been there though.
