Hello new to the caravan club
Hi I'm new on here and wondered what advice to get the best out of being a member and how it all works, I have an old elddis tornado but made it our own 😀

Club site pitches are either grass or hard stand but you can't select which you want when you book. It's pot luck. You can choose either an awning or non-awning pitch but it's not mandatory to erect an awning on an awning pitch.
Almost all pitches have electric hook up which is included in the price. There are a few economy/non-electric pitches which are a bit cheaper and you can sometimes book a service pitch which includes a fresh water tap and grey drainage (toilet cassettes must still be emptied at the service point) and these pitches carry a surcharge of about £4 per night.
There is no price difference whichever way you book but booking through the website is usually the simplest way to do it. CLs should be booked direct with the site owners as must the few affiliated sites.

Access to the Certified Locations was the biggest reason for us to join, we only joined a few weeks ago, the Club sites are brilliant, well managed and well serviced but we do not always wish to be on a "holiday park" preferring the quieter places.
The map and site bible which you should have is invaluable. Have a read through, use the search function on here and book.
Many CaMC sites allow non-members on but the price members pay is discounted by (I think) £12. As Cyberyacht said the CL's prices are significantly cheaper again.
The equivalent of the membership cost is recouped with only 4 nights stay on a club site.
This website is difficult to navigate, perseverance on the forums search will get you the info needed but it seems easier to ask and someone will point you to the correct thread.1 -

TW also omitted to mention that serviced pitches are Hardstanding, so booking one ensures that you get a H/S pitch. However not all sites have them. There are some Club sites which cost £14 all year round but these do not have Toilets or Showers, but do have EHU ( Electric Hook-up points) etc and are often quieter/less popular than other sites with facilities.

A CL is a privately owned small site( 5 vans max), often a farmers field or orchard. Facilities vary from the very basic of just a water tap and somewhere to empty your chemical loo. The majority also have electric hookup (EHU). Some have hardstandings/loos/showers. They are less regimented than club sites and often you will have a lot more space.
