RV adventure in Canada
We've recently returned from a wonderful trip to the Canadian Rockies organized by Jess of Bon Voyage Travel through the Club "Venture Abroad" publication. I wanted to do a tour of the Rockies followed by an Alaskan cruise and a quick call to Jess and she organized it all for us. If anyone else is considering such a trip, go for it! The Canadians are so well set-up for RVs (motorhomes to you and I) we wished we had hired a larger vehicle. Virtually every town we visited had RV parking signed and everyone is so helpful and friendly. The sites we stayed on where mainly run by National Parks. They are all quite large sites with pitches big enough for the huge 5th Wheelers and coaches they have in North America - most of the pitches are pull-through which means no need to reverse!
A lot of the sites were fully serviced which meant electric, water and sewerage. They use corrugated tubes for emptying the grey and black waste which need a good rinse through. All pitches had a picnic bench and fire pit which we couldn't use due to the risk of wild fires.
The rental company, Fraserway, were very helpful. They will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport or hotel at the end of your trip. The staff will spend as long as you need demonstrating the vehicle and make sure you have their contact number in case of any problems. When you have unpacked your cases, they will store them for you so you don't have to worry about space being taken up in the van.
We had some fantastic weather and were able to enjoy some amazing scenery.
