Hmm I feel the same. I'm consoling myself with a comparison to 1983 the year our daughter was born (yesterday). It had been a decent summer, ours hasn't been great 😢. It rained the day she was born and the following 10 days I was in hospital. Everyone who came to visit was soaked. Sun came out the day we left hospital and it was glorious until at least mid November. Yes days were shorter and cooler but the sun was lovely. Fingers crossed for a repeat once the Atlantic storms have passed us 😉.

Anyhow, I had a pleasant walk over to reception in the sun and blue sky this morning to collect my daily newspaper. I had to wear my wellies though as the grass is still wet outside.
You could be right about the weather improving now that the Atlantic storms have passed. It was on the news that Hurricane Irma has been downgraded to Tropical Storm. I'm not sure what that means but I guess it means it's losing its power!
Time for me to sit out in the awning and have a read of today's paper!

Malcolm we've got the remnants of Irma and the 2 following named storms to blow this way before we've finished. Just received a yellow warning from the metoffice for strong winds nearby. On the map we are borderline with it surrounding us on three sides. It's breezy here now, but good for my washing.
Enjoy your read of the paper. But I'd stay in the awning otherwise it's a battle with the wind and not good for your hands.

Even when my hands are better, it will still be immaterial because of having to get back to work! It's not windy here at the moment but I agree it would be impossible to read the papers outside if it was. They're too flimsy to withstand even a small breeze!
Time does seem to go quicker, reading the papers. I'm just having a break, having done an hours reading. Another hour and it will be time for lunch, yet there's still plenty more to read.
My cousin said he'll call round to see us this afternoon with our post. He's not sure what time he'll call but will phone us beforehand.

When I checked the walking route on the google map, it showed distance from the club site to the house as 1.7 miles and 36 minutes walk. So it may be possible to walk over there to collect our post in future.
I've never tried walking there before as we always used to use the car. The google map shows the walking route along Titnore Lane. However, there's no footpath or speed limit there, so I would prefer the footpath on the edge of the housing estate that runs parallell to Titnore Lane, at the end of which you can cross over the recreational ground on to thefootpath that leads through the new build housing estate through to Littlehampton Road. Then turn right towards the roundabout to cross over on to Goring Road and the road bridge past Goring Railway Station.

Anyone at White House Beach club site at Kessingland can have the opportunity of seeing a lovely Wryneck (a type of woodpecker). They are quite rare in our part of the country.
Leave the site and go to the beach, turn South and in approx half a mile you will come to Kessingland Sluice. The Wryneck has been showing well a couple of hundred yards before the building. Plenty of opportunities to see it on the ground in the open

We've just finished lunch which we ate inside the caravan. Now I'm back in the awning relaxer. It reminds me of that advert on tv that says 'the lion relaxes 18 hours a day.' That's me!
Our lunch consisted of cod loins, chips and mixed veg with corn on the cob.
This morning it was cold enough in the awning to require the use of the heater. Now the sun is coming through the front and it's getting hotter!

Just woken up from my afternoon nap. Time for the kettle to go for a cup of tea! It's still sunny but with a cool breeze. The grass outside is being cut. You can hear the lawnmower.

After a lovely morning it has started to cloud over now,I notice that the bad weather coming in overnight has now been upgraded to the first named storm of this time of year to Aileen,i hope it clears as fast as they say as we are heading to North Norfolk tomorrow,and i hate towing in windy conditions

😲😲😲 Malcolm surely you didn't have to heat the awning when you could have sat inside the caravan or put an extra layer on?
I'm surprised you post openly about it too and the club don't comment. They ask members to try to keep the club electricity bills down for the sake of all members, costs are only passed on! And the environment.

Chilly breeze and cloudy skies now 😔.
Walked into town and did some banking, picked up new prescription trial lenses, made appointment for their check in a couple of weeks, found 2 summer dresses in the sale, persistence pays off! Then met a friend for cuppa in her lunch break before walking home.
Washing has dried beautifully careful folding 😉 no ironing required. 😂.
Productive day so far. Now sitting in the conservatory benefiting from the sun when it peeps out and not suffering the wind. Chill time before cooking dinner.
Oh yes managed to add another night onto our CL stay next week 😆. There had been a 5 night cancellation but didn't fit in with next week so I generously left it for someone else 😇

Nice day, if a little breezy her in Notts. We decided to visit Gainsborough Old Hall (English Heritage) again. Last time we went it was raining and it was not easy to examine the outside. The centrepiece is the Great Hall, which is one of the best preserved in England and dates from the time of Henry VIII. In fact he stayed at the hall overnight on route to York.

We are yet again in the teeth of a gale, or actually a storm this time!
After 2 sleepless nights at Willingcot, we did get some sleep last night. Yesterday we visited the Dartington glass place, had lunch and bought some glassware, then into Barnstaple for shopping and fuel.
Now at Trewethett....not the ideal place to be when storm force winds are expected! We are not right on the edge of the cliff, but still already getting a good battering. Just had to put a rope over the van from wheel to wheel to stop the wind lifting the Fiamma bag and letting it thunk down on the side of the van.....first time I have ever had to do that.
Reasonable journey here but quite slow as the A39 is tortuous in places. Hoping to visit the Boscastle pottery tomorrow to replenish our stock of mugs.
Wind should die down a bit tomorrow morning......hopefully!
