I don't think I've put on any extra weight, well not on my waistline because my belt still fits on the same notch!
We'm need to check the post soon to see if my wife's provisional driving licence is there. In the meantime, she's been studying the Highway Code. She bought an up to date version not long ago and has been using it to correct my driving!

The high winds are here already and it's grey and overcast here this morning as I type this.
We've just had breakfast of Muesli plus two cups of tea. Now time to get ready to collect my morning newspaper!
We were late getting up this morning so only got to watch half an hour of breakfast tv!
Our awning is well and truly anchored down with storm straps and guy ropes which we hope can withstand the strong winds! No rain yet though.

I've gained an hour!
Rushed round this morning and thought I had dinner in the oven by 10 o'clock. Turns out it was only ten to nine. So, time for a sit down and listen to another chapter of the my audio book. (Some Fantastic Place by (and read by) Chris Difford - look him up!)

Horrible weather up here in the Pennines this morning. Strong winds and rain lashing down. I'm hoping it bates a bit in the next half hour so we can get our daily walk in, I hate having to wear waterproofs when it's not cold, I get all sweaty.😫

Much too early for lunch, Goldie, I've only just had breakfast! I suppose it depends what you're cooking. If it's a roast dinner, you'll need two hours. So if you start at 10 you'll be eating at midday.

A wild night here in S Wales last night. But we were warm and cosy, shaken, but nothing stirred! We managed a short little walk with dogs yesterday evening, even stayed dry! Still windy, but dry at the moment, the forecast is dire though. Never mind, lots to do and see! Keep safe everyone!

Dry and blustery here at the moment. Lots of apples to prepare for freezing and if I can manage they'll be pies before that stage. Autumn is busy for laying down stores!
Am about to tackle mum's house insurance with a well known and trusted business been established for years and seen as for the workers. Premium extortionate cover minimal and less than rebuild costs in my opinion, just renews without asking. Apparently she did a few years ago and was told it was cos her house is old and has wood in it 😲 and the post code. It's a brick and tile construction in a small untroubled, fingers crossed, village. She's just paid every year since dad died 16 years ago. I've had a preliminary conversation with our insurers minimum £200 cheaper and 5 times the cover. She didn't understand about being under insured either. I do think these companies aren't active enough to loyal customers and they should know their age. Mum will be 87 in a minute and still good but not on top of this, casual remark from my husband as she'd written renewal cost on her calendar. She likes to be independent and thought she'd done well bless her.
I'm looking forward to the data protection questions but really only interested in cancellation costs. Mum's upset cos we've been with them for years! I'll let you know how it goes 😉

Stick with it Bakers. I took on doing Mum and Dad's a few years ago, and saved them hundreds of pounds each year, enough for an extra holiday! New customers often get the best deals, so it really does pay to shop around. They put up the most stupid of reasons to increase premiums as well, so haggle hard with them. Agree re the rebuild costs, but do some work on the contents. Older folks often don't have all the techie stuff like expensive computers/TVs that other folks have and that are such easy targets for thieves. Good luck

Dinner scheduled for 12:30 - for 4 people - mince, bulked out with an assortment of veg. Cooking in the Aga - an hour in the top oven and then in the bottom oven till dinner time.

I agree with you about insurance companies bakers2. It is shameful how they treat existing customers. We have to change from year to year go get the best deal. They are not loyal to us so I see no reason to be loyal to them. Best of luck with your Mum's insurance
Bright and sunny morning here at Sandringham but very windy. For some reason we always seem to get a spell of windy weather when we come here..

We had lunch and then I had a short nap afterwards. We've just had another shower of rain and it's still windy but patches of blue sky as well.
I'm now sitting in the relaxer in the awning. There's still plenty of reading left to do from this mornings paper.

Lunch sounds good, any left? Ours was cracker cheese and apple. Dinner not sorted yet 😲. Hoping freezer will have any offering 😂.
Need to pop to local lidl for ingredients for baking, running a really lax household here at present. Personally I'm not impressed 😂😂.

I just heard a clap of thunder. So it seems like a thunderstorm has arrived, heavy grey clouds but no rain at the moment. So no sitting outside, just inside the awning in the relaxer. The rain has just started as I finish typing this post. Getting heavier now.

The storm has passed. The heavy shower is over and the sun has come out again. It's quite cool sitting here in the awning with the awning doors shut.

No it wasn't busy, quite a few empty pitches so we had lots of space. A bit too far from the town for us although the half hour walk along the Dee was pleasant enough.
We're now on a front pitch at Rosemarkie, £30 a night which for us is the most we've paid for a long time! Can do some gentle strolls and dolphin watching. Hunkering down for a few days.

}, I hope every body has their tackle well fastened down. Its nowhere near the windspeed Irma & her follower have/will generate but anything loose may easily turn into a deadly airborne thing

We came through some heavy downpours through the Cairngorm National Park, torrential rain with hail. Skies clearing to the west now, breezy but OK. Nice to be here but can't continue further north as planned, have to be home by next weekend.
