Thoughtless dog owners
We recently visited Nunnykirk site, a long time favourite of ours (no facilities - very peaceful). We were mortified to see the notice at the entrance to the dog walk, indicating that due to dog-owner's crazy idea that its ok to bag the pooh and leave it by the path(or hang on fence or tree like some trophy), the farmer was considering closing the walk. After all its not a right of way. This must be members with dogs as the area is so isolated no one else uses the lane. How stupid they are. Leaving bags is worse than not cleaning up. Plastic bags are not biodegradable and can kill animals. This is Littering! There is a bin for poo at the entrance.
As a dog-owner I am appalled. I do see these "trophies" around elsewhere also. If you don't want the responsibility of cleaning up after your dog, DON'T have one.
It would be a shame if the twits spoil a lovely site for the majority.

We are just back from St Davids. For anyone who knows the site, dogs are taken off site to Sh....,The roadside between the club and the golf course is covered sh...,you can not walk off the tarmac to let traffic pass without treading in the thing. Most if not all is the result of club members. Its time for the club to tackle this antisocial activity by tarring all dog owners the same. and ban or fine them for violation seems to be the only answer.

Yep, get the club to fine dog owners when their dogs foul the highway outside of the site. Good scheme, Fisherman.

Not peak and a fleeting visit. Now off to Haven. It is a recurring theme here that dog owners are not picking up their dogs Sh... Its time to take action and I suggest the club charges for dogs. If the minority owners wont clean up after them then unfortunately they must all take the blame.

There are lots of "recurring themes" on CT - early arrivals, late departure, speeding drivers, cycling kids, loud TVs, loud/early toilet emptiers, flags, lit up awnings ..... the list goes on and on and makes me wonder how folk take the time to enjoy themselves while they're on holiday.
Mind you, there's also the recurring theme of folk having not a good word to say about club sites and yet ...er...continuing to use them!

Personally I'm not the greatest fan of club sites, but not because of dogs cos you get dyslexic owners everywhere, you know the sort can't read that their pet should be on a lead, pick up etc.. For me it's regimentation and price that is the less attractive aspect, but I do use them, because its all about location
Sorry Moulesy for me your quote missed by a mile after all you wouldn't cut off your nose to spite your face

... and let's ban all fishermen, for the hooks left on the beach, the line left for wildlife to become entangled in, the taking over of the beach shoreline, impeding access, oh and the fly fishermen dangerously casting their lines without a backward glance.

A campsite is just that - A place where vans can be sited when their owners are on holiday. CMC sites are the same as those belonging to other camping organisations.
I've never read any adverse comment against actual campsites so the paragraph quoted above is incorrect and divisive..
There has been plenty of winging and moaning on this forum about the behaviour of CMC customers when they are using the sites.
But this is something completely different, from the claim "not a good word to say about club sites" Sites after all are inanimate bits of land.
So if it's because of people misbehaving and not following the site rules which is causing all this moaning surely it is up to the CMC on-site staff to control what happens on their sites - That's their job.
So don't blame CMC sites, they are good, Blame the People who spoil those sites for others.

"I've never read any adverse comment against actual campsites so the paragraph quoted above is incorrect and divisive"
K - I think you have misunderstood my post, or not been keeping up with some posts. There are folk on here who constantly complain that club sites are too expensive, poorly equipped etc etc. I don't think you would choose to deny this would you?
Incorrect and divisive? No, just stating what is evident from reading a (admittedly small) number of poster's views, possibly during your recent absence.

Given the number of "Likes" his post has received, your obviously wrong there K.....

Some great replies !!!. The post was not about club sites.its about the inconsiderate dog owners who allow their dogs to Sh...all over the place without consideration for the locals, walkers etc. As it is a recurring problem the time may have come for the club to take action. How I don't know but making a charge for dogs may be a start. Simple observation IMHO

Fair enough K - think what you will.
Just a question though - if you've "never read any adverse comments" about CAMC sites, why did you post this on a recent thread?
"Having read through this thread, it appears that the grumbles are many and varied, as usual for this forum.
Try this idea. - If people don't like the way the CMC run their business and their sites, then don't use them. Go Elsewhere. "

The thing is 'pnj' there is no answer to it, yes many will shout and bawl "do this and do that", then we have the dog haters stick their oar in but none of it is do-able. Certainly charging for dogs is the least likely thing to stop a person clearing up after them, in fact it would probably have them thinking they have paid for the privilege.
Fly tipping cannot be stopped, speeding cannot be stopped, assault and burglary cannot be stopped, animal cruelty cannot be stopped, the list is endless. Thankfully the majority accept and live by the rules and the minority are 'controlled' to a point, that is the best we can expect.

Exactly M. People are free to pay their hard earned cash into whichever company they choose. BUT if any company doesn't come up to expectations then go elsewhere.
IMO the CMC is a good business, their sites are fit for purpose, their head office deals with any enquiries in a friendly and professional manner. I enjoyed being a member for some 40 years and would have no hesitation in rejoining when personal circumstances allow.
But
There may be some people who find being a customer of the CMC not to their liking and as said on the first paragraph, better to go elsewhere.
IMO, as said before there is absolutely nothing wrong with the actual CMC sites. They are just somewhere to park your van while you enjoy your holiday.
Any moans and grumbles I have read on this forum have always been about some people blaming other people who use the sites in a way the former disagrees with, or are breaking site rules by doing what they are doing . ---------------------There is a difference.
