thanks for taking your time out of your holiday
You can't say that anymore, those "over there" aren't on holiday - they're just living somewhere else at the moment......

Oh yes, I remember, Well I am away from home and definitely on holiday

I once popped into the Tewkesbury CC site once to use their facilities with my young son who needed a number 2 and there were no public toilets near.
They didn't seem to mind !!

Yes, they changed the name at great expense but not a lot else.
You're right DD. Recently we got a Camping Key Europe from CAMC. The letter with it ended by wishing us "an enjoyable year of caravanning.
We don't have a caravan, we have a motorhome. Perhaps a bit picky on our part, but if it's the Caravan and Motorhome Club, a re-phrasing of that should be in order after that re-branding.

cue, JVB and the 'motor caravan' bit......
1 -
Sorry. It may be a motor caravan but you do have a caravan.

This could work, very unique I think DD. No charge if the C&MC would like to adopt it

The club rebranded to increase its share of the market by trying to attract the increasing numbers of people with motor caravans. They used the name most popular with motor caravan owners. Makes sense to me. In statute these vehicles are motor caravans. We are all caravanners. To deny it is similar to an English person denying that they are British. What's wrong with being referred to as caravanners? I notice that your membership profile mentions you have done many years of caravanning. Me too.

That would be so easy to see, especially in a hedge. The TCAMCCC could make good use of those talents.

Looking into the future, there may be a further change in the name.
It would be called The Campervan Touring Club. "CTC" for short. It does roll off the tongue so well.
The sites would have individual overnight charging points at each pitch.

I'm not denying anything, all I did was point something out which caught my eye in relation to what Deleted UserUser said about the club changing the name but not a lot else. Not sure what relevance it has that we had caravans before motorhomes. I don't consider myself any different to anybody with a different unit, but I can't admit to being British

There is another aspect to being allowed to use the sites facilities when not staying that I think may be relevant.
If staying on a CL it is not always easy to get close to the grey waste point or indeed the tap in a MH so there is sometimes a need to want to fill and empty a MH when on a CL and travelling between sites where you can drive over the grid and dump grey waste easily.

Don't you carry a hose to allow you to empty into any drain, MT? You must surely have a hose for filling your fresh tank so won't need to get that close to a tap. Carry the two and you won't have a problem.
Actually, it's very often easier to do that than to try to use some of the club's MHSPs.

If you want to collect water and dump waste water perhaps you should stay at sites who offer this service rather than expect to pop into a camc site to fill up and dump your wate water.
Are there any commercial sites out there which offer a service of popping in to use facilities?? I doubt it very much as it doesn't appear to be a very good business model. The camc might be a club but it's also a business which needs profit to reinvestment.
I hadn't thought about this until this thread but it really is simple to me, if you want facilities stay at sites with them and pay for them

Deleted User answered the question of commercial sites offering this service on page 2. We are members of a Club and should be able to easily use all services which includes the CL network. If for what ever reason it doesn't work for you then by all means look at going where it does. The Club is the loser not the customer.
I would have welcomed such a service on my last trip out. I suffer from a dodgy back and was severely handicapped at my last stop over. I would have loved a nearby opportunity to dump my waste easily. Had there been a C&CC club site nearby I would have even willing paid £7.50 for the priviledge of doing so.

Goodness is this still running , I thought it would have died a death by now .😜
I'll keep my eye on CT it's bound to resurface again , only worded differently .😇

We have a 2m length but we have been on sites where that is not long enough or the waste point is behind another van. Or course we have a 15m hose for fresh water but again sometimes the tap is in the corner behind another van so not always easy to get to and if you are not dumping waste then easier to do both at once rather than faff around twice...

All CL's offer this facility but its sometimes not as convenient in a MH to get close by to use the facilities so may be easier to use a club site if passing by one.
Over there en France there are lots of places to fill and empty either in an Aire or service station, they seem to charge €2-€4 for about 100l of fresh water, dumping (grey & black) is generally free and its not after wild camping just some places do not offer water or waste facilities.
IT is really only offering a service to club members and if the MHSP are in a good position near the entrance for instance it would not affect people using the site and the club could recoup costs by charging a nominal sum, say £2-£4. They would not turn someone away if they popped into site to buy something from the shop, get gas etc. would they? Of course some small minded people who do not understand MH life may not get it, I do not think there are a great amount of people who would want this but at least it could be an option..

Reckon you need a longer waste hose, MT.
Do you really consider it a faff to move your MH twice to do the tanks? If so, I should use different sites in future.

Carry too much carp now lol.
It is the time it takes to empty or fill, so by doing it together it saves a bit of standing around.
Only been to a couple of sites where it was difficult to access, just move on to the next site if that's the case, we do have a fiamma waste container and a a watering can if needs be which we have used to same driving round site to the MHSP.
Never thought of using a club site to fill up if not using it but just used the example...

In a post by lutz just recently he had been to the Dusseldorf show and people he had been speaking to mentioned that sales of caravans were outstripping motor caravans,so it sounds like even more, like us, ,have really seen the light and returned to the space and conveniance of caravans (the towed type)
