The Club’s Technical Team

I'm asking rather a specific question here though, Brue. It may or may not fall within the realms of public liability and clarification would be good.

Thankyou for your input, Brue.

Our four Technical Team members have around 40 years’ collective experience helping Club members and prospective members, mainly by phone and email, although you may also find them providing guidance on the Club website via WebChat, on the Club stand at major shows, or here on Club Together. Behind the scenes, they might be revising the advice content in the Sites Directory and Handbook, scrutinising cars before they’re tested at Towcar of the Year, or judging caravans and motorhomes at one of the NEC shows. Among their strengths are in-depth knowledge on topics like driving licences, car-caravan outfit matching or tyre specifications. If you’re a beginner just starting out on your caravanning journey, they can guide you through the jargon and answer the questions you didn’t even know you needed to ask.
Where a question goes beyond their knowledge, they have support from our Technical Manager (degree-qualified automotive engineer, whose caravanning experience started when he was eight), great connections into the industry, and an extensive archive of product data, test reports, handbooks and such like. While their knowledge of road traffic and consumer law is good, enquirers with more complex legal questions are referred to the Club’s free Legal Helpline. We also have a separate team who provide advice on travel overseas.
You may also find the Technical Team asking you questions from time to time. Club Together is already a valuable source of knowledge for us, especially for issues where there’s no right or wrong answer, but rather a range of valid opinions. Beyond technical matters, the team has extensive knowledge of gardening, baking, computer games and football!
As pointed out we do have terms and conditions for the community but advice given on Club Together from staff of the Club is the same as any other advice/information provided by the Club through the magazine, website and contact centre. Fundamentally, this is a Club, where we’re here to help members in the best way we can.

Maybe you cannot see the reason, DD, but the T&Cs do not adequately answer it.
The answer would appear to be no, they are not liable but it's my believe that, in the case of paid employees giving advice, the negligence clause would apply. It's all very woolly.

Cheers, DD. We understand one another.
The woolliness has not been unraveled by Rowena's reply so, come the day......

I am a newby to this forum, and am struggling with it. If there are any technical experts in the MCc I suggest that they look at how other forums are set up and update this one. I find threads difficult to find and follow. What about email updates to threads you've contributed to?

When you consider that excellent software packages can be obtained off the shelf, as can be seen powering numerous other forums, there really is no excuse for the IT people producing this abomination.
It does nothing to inspire confidence in any of the club's 'experts' as they all become tainted by the fallout.
