beware! check passenger names on ferry bookings
morning all, just boarded BF Balfour at Poole....pulled up to check in and lady says...
"oh, both passengers are booked in as Mr xxxxxxxxxxx (no Mrs xxxxxxxxx)"
well, i definitely booked each of us as the CC website adds us both automatically as the default passengers.
she says that we were the 'umpteenth' vehicle with a 'problem' today and that she would (graciously) change the booking...
she then informed us that 'some companies' would charge '£50 A LETTER' admin charge to alter a booking.....
so, check your ferry bookings, though it may be that they appear ok on your confirmation but the operator data screen is populated incorrectly.....?
just checked our confirmation and it says '2 adults' so no names on our documentation.

Checking tickets are in the correct names and as on passports is something that is always was important and probably more so these days. If you're at the travel agents they make you check them on the paper work at time of booking and accept no responsibility for errors. Rightly so. But 2 adults on your paperwork very lax. You could substitute either if you can be bothered with new models 😂
It maybe worth taking it up with the club booking as it appears you had no reason to know. The chances of it been read on here is remote at best 😉.
Have a lovely time. Watch for sea must 😉

as weve boarded, cant find any online details of this booking to check what was 'logged' by the system....however, i checked one of our uk bookings and it shows our 'old' MH, despite me checking that the 'my outfit' details show the 'new' outfit, which they do
come on CC, this heap of rubbish shows more cracks the more its tested......(something that certainly wasnt done thoroughly enough, in my book......).

Don't you have to fill in "Advance Passenger Information" on ferries or is it just on Eurotunnel?

Just checked our booking confirmation and it says " 2 Adults" as the club no longer issue tickets how is one supposed to check what is on it?
Just checked with BF site but as the booking is made through a third party you can't check on the 'Manage my bookings'

We booked our tickets direct with Brittany Ferries and I have just checked the tickets, which I saved on my pad. They only show the lead booker ( my name) and then refer to a booking for two adults.
I am fairly sure I will have entered the OH's name when making the booking but as it does not show through onto the ticket there is no way to check if I input it correctly. Although I assume I did as nothing was said when we booked in.
It would certainly be worth them showing it on the ticket. I assume the names were on our boarding cards, although can't remember, and these of course should tally with your passport.

exactly the issue, TG, ot seems that the passenger detail only goes through to the ferry operator, se we cant check.
as Steve say, he was sure he.......so was i, but, as there were quite a few instances this morning, i doubt its user error....most seasoned ferry travellers will check what they are putting in, and anyway, doesnt the CC site load the members (and spoise) details?
i dont generally have to type them in, just check what the compiter has loaded.
i fear another system glitch

We did have a similar problem a few years ago when travelling on an EasyJet flight. We'd booked with their booking centre as opposed to online and as the person taking the call was French managed to drop the Aitch from my wife name. This wasn't noticed by us until we arrived at the airport. Fortunately the staff were actually helpful and when they found at that the booking clerk was indeed French changed the booking without charge. Phew.
Since then we've always checked names. Unfortunately I have turned up Dover on the wrong day though!

I'm on BF next Monday, booked direct with BF as not taking the caravan. My ticket shows my name only, but states "2 adults". However when booking I had to complete API details including passport numbers.
I'm pretty sure that when I booked through the club last year, I then had to contact BF by phone to provide API details as the CC system couldn't cope with it, and because booked via club API could not then be provided on line to BF.
Also I believe that if you want to change your booking, you cannot do so direct with BF but must do it via the club - unless things have changed since last year.
I have a further booking direct with BF for June 2018. As my passport expires before then I have to provide API at a later date, but can do so online.
IMHO the small (if any) savings gained by booking through the club are not worth the hassles detailed above. Personal opinion only of course.

Just seen this and checked this years documents and, as for others with BF, it just says two adults.
Last years also says the same and both booked with Club on the phone after checking the price online and this showing the usual passenger details such as names which was confirmed when booking.
Whatever the reason it's not what you want to hear at check in.

Perhaps this is where we need one of the Club's experts to ride to the rescue with an answer? When she worked for the Club Hazel was always on hand to contribute to these sorts of discussion.

I travelled with BF this summer (Apr-Jun) and had no issues with names, did not supply API, and wasn't asked for it (booked Oct 2016).
Security has gone up this year due to terrorism - is it possibly the BF system causing the issue? ie. most people book well in advance of travel, the system at that time didn't ask for API, or bother logging names, in the meantime, security increases, API introduced for ferries, result is some haven't submitted API (due to early booking) and computer says NO

We are going over to Calais on Monday with P&O booked through the club.
Our emails and ticket do not have any names? Just lots of invitations to buy travel insurance etc.........
Guess we just have to hope for the best as there is no way of checking if our names are correct
