Fiat Ducato Engine Problems
We have a 2014 Hymer on a Fiat Ducato base vehicle, the engine will not respond to accelerator when pulling away from low speed ie. joining a motorway slip road or away from traffic lights. The Dash shows ESC and Hill Holder not available This first happened in August 2015 then again in July 2016, we had it checked out by our local Fiat dealer who found nothing a full 11 months went by when it happened again (by which time the warranty had expired) Our dealer took advice from Fiat Milan and changed the Brake pedal switch !? We are now on our way to France and its happened twice soon after setting off then all fine for 200 miles in very varied travelling conditions.
I suspect a new ECU will cure it but currently we are loosing confidence in the vehicle, someone is going to modify my rear end before long as the only way to resolve it is to turn off the ignition & then re start the engine.
Has anyone else had this problem and had it resolved please ?
I would welcome any members coments.
Jeff Clegg.

We had a very similar problem with our diesel to the one you describe.
Lack of engine revs, virtually no power and extremely slow acceleration.
It was an intermittent fault and, of course, never replicated itself when taken to the Dealers who couldn't identify the fault and it was only the experience of an Independent Garage man who recognised the problem.
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valve needed replacing and the vehicle worked fine after that.
Hope this helps.
