Help gas advice
Just started a 5 week trip to Portugal and have foundone of the two 6kg bottles of calor gas is near empty (oversight on my part did not reset Alde control panel and system had been keeping water warm while in store)
I know I can't get calories in Spain (where I am at the moment or Portugal (where I am headed). Any alternative suggestions and advice in linking a new bottle to my system which seems to have a Trump 30 bar regulator built into the system.

If you use electricity for fridge, hot water and low level heating you should be able to make do for 5 weeks.
Somebody on this forum can advise on what bottles are available but to use on your system you will need the correct "pigtail" to fit between the new bottle and your bulkhead mounted regulator. This is a high pressure gas hose and needs the correct fitting. I don't know how you would get one in Portugal but if you are staying in one place I guess you could order from the UK and get it posted (Gaslow have been mentioned as a supplier).
Something that hasn't been mentioned before on this forum is that you could get a stand-alone regulator with the bottle and bypass your bulkhead fitting. If you are not comfortable with doing this it may be possible to take your van into a workshop and have them do it. Bulkhead regulators are a bit of a liability to my mind.

If you have enough to get to Portugal you might find one of the GPL fuel stations will help out. We had a Calor cylinder refilled at the GPL near Quarteira in 2009 (link GPL N125). However Google indicates this outlet might have closed.
The website https://www.mylpg.eu/stations/portugal/ might help locate another, but it would be as well to contact them before travelling.

if you have a uk POL propane pigtail, remove this and replace it with a 'butane' one....this should have a 21.8mm LH threaded female nut on the end.
to this you can attach a spanish 'Jumbo' adaptor which fits a Repsol or Cepsa cylinder.
the good thing is, the pigtail (withput the adaptor) can be used to connect directly to some French and most German bottles, so you'll have a more versatile system.
