We received that email late last week or earlier this week, can't remember exactly, read it and Deleted User it 😆. I did wonder why someone had taken the time to compose it during the school holidays 😲.  Have the prices been increased too much?

Didn't bother to check any of them.

I couldn't get anything at my favourite sites for the BH weekend, nor in any site a few hours away from here unless I wanted a non toilet block site. Booked for the following weekend though

We looked at Freshwater East for September, in fact glanced would be a better description. Far too expensive for us, somewhere like £27 per night. We are currently putting together a list of possibles ranging between £8 and £20 per night, a significant difference. We accept the cheaper end won't have the facility block, but further up the price scale, at £15 per night you have all that the Club Site has and more. We intend touring Pembroke area, won't need facilities a good number of nights, so using more basic, but superbly located CLs etc... will bring our nightly average down significantly below £27.

Now if we could roll into FE and pitch up without booking on one of the unsold pitches, for a good discount, say £10 off, then we might be tempted.........but it won't happen!undecided

If the Caravan Club have indeed overpriced some sites and have vacancies as a result I have no sympathy. I wonder if as a result, we can perhaps all look forward to lower prices next season..innocent

I have just realised, don't think we have used a Club Site since last December! Been a funny year for us though, family illness interrupted a lot of plans, but even so, our fortnight away shortly isn't featuring any other than possibly one night at Bromyard Downs just to say goodbye to the site ( if the closure is still going ahead) and to give us a head start down to Wales. £14 won't break the bank.

And us, we miss Much Wenlock. Not heard anything for a while about what is happening at BD, but it was on the cards to close at end of this season as lease is up. We like it, bit of a funny site with the split level and the high quarry sides in places, but a great location for us with dogs. You can just cross road and be out onto heathland, and of course Brockhampton Estate is close by for NT members.

If the CC looses a site I think it a shame. When they lose or let go a non facility site I consider it to be a tragedy. What are the chances of them providing a new non facility site ....... B All

Talking to the warden this week it would appear that the site's lease runs out next year, so perhaps this will be the last year for this grand site, unless the CC's honchos can get it extended.

The site has been nearly full every night this week and looking at the pitch availability for the rest of the month this trend looks to continue. It will be such a shame if another non-facility site disappears from the network.

We shall be looking at a few sites for some Winter based stays, once prices come right down. We had a lovely time up at Bolton Abbey last December, including a terrific storm that brought down lots of trees on the estate. Had a couple of nights at Tredegar House in November a couple of years ago, as part of a trip to Swansea area to pick up a Fiamma box for MH. That was pleasant as well, bit of road noise, but then we knew about location and expected it.

If bookings are down, which looks to be the case then I don't think the Club is the only one suffering.  If there are many like me, I shop around for cheaper options, not because I cannot afford it but why pay more when you can find cheaper sites which suit you. So far I have had 105 nights away this year and have not used one Club site and the average price I have paid is just over £13p.n. I do have 4 bookings at Club sites to come but one is a none facility site and another is on an economy pitch, the other two are on standard pitches. I don't expect my average price paid to change a great deal.

Up to start of school holidays, end of July weather, had been good here, but spoilt itself last three weeks. Been a lot better this week, lots of sunshine, but you can feel temps dropping in evening now.

Like you PD, we shop around for sites.

Sounds like another year at BD, which is good news at least. I bet the no facility sites are up to £15 next year.

Like quite a few others on here, we've hardly used club sites this year, having 4 nights when Wirral CP opened up at the beginning of the season and that's it. Rest of the year will be the same with maybe a return to Wirral CP before it closes down in early November. No real competition in the area. Site was looking tired in March. Just hoping it was due to being so early in the season.

Off on Monday for a quick 2 nighter at an independent site for £12.50 p.n. with showers and electric included. No way the club is going to compete with those prices but it would be nice if they acknowledged that some of their prices are out of sync.

The fact is that when I look at the times of year when I tour with OH the CC is not out of sync and that commercial prices are similar. I am just as likely to spend a quid or two more on a nearby commercial site s a quid or two less.

The list of sites mentioned above only accounts for about 6% of the Clubs total sites or there abouts so I don't think we should get too excited that such a small number of sites have vacancies in the peak season. Perhaps the Club is pointing this out for two reasons, firstly to get better occupancy on these sites and secondly to remind members that there are sites available when there might be an assumption by members that they would be unlikely to find space at this time of year?

I haven't used a club site at all this year. It is unlikely that I will for the remainder of the year either.

Look at the Late Availability for the Lake District and Scotland for this week end and for Scotland next week end - is that not saying something ?

The CCC bring their prices down for their Scottish sites on Sunday to mid season prices which means that the 'Concession' rate applies for the 'over sixty members'. This is in line with the Scottish school holidays.

Touring Scotland now for us using the CCC site Poolewe  say would cost £17.30 as opposed to last week when it would have been £24.65.

We are searching for ideas for South Wales, and must admit have found some good CS sites, enough to have us pondering on rejoining C&CC.

I did say SOME and I was referring to your original post which was about availability at this time of year and not necessarily when you tour, so to bring in a different timescale to have a go at my statement is rather misleading.

Yes, certain large commercial sites and the club are in sync or one slightly cheaper than the other in high season but your post and title would indicate that you are a bit bemused that the club should have pitches available at this peak time.

If I wanted to stay at Chirk for example, say tomorrow for 2 adults it would cost £25.90. I could stay at one of 2 small commercial sites within  10 miles for under £15 or at Moreton-in-the-Marsh the club would set me back nearly £32 whereas if you looked around there are independent sites that would cost between £18-20. There are some members who wouldn't want to stay at anywhere else than a CC site, which is fair enough as it's their choice but there are others, myself included, who will see what is the best choice for me in the area I want to visit. If it's a club site then fine but I don't have any problem staying at alternatives.

So as I said Some of the clubs prices may be out of sync and to attract usage maybe they could consider special offers like 3 nights for 2 midweek or kids go free or free wifi at sites where they have late availability. You know, act like they want to fill the places
