I know I will need two vignettes for travelling through Switzerland with the caravan but does the second one for the caravan go on the caravan or the screen of the car.

Scotts, the man at the Basel border post who sells you the vignettes will advise you - or even do it for you.

If you wish to pay by credit card at Basel you will be directed to park up and pay at the booth. They will hand you the vignettes which you can affix yourself. You may wish to apply a very thin film of Vaseline before fixing to the acrylic front window to aid removal. This, by the way, is illegal as it could be resold. On the other hand it will prevent any damage to the acrylic surface.

Any one else used DJB's two on the car?  Forums say illegal but I  don't want to damage the acrylic windows on the van or leave on as only planning  to be in Switzerland for a holiday this year.

Lip balm/Vaseline is also illegal but it makes it easy to remove, although I don't recall removal causing any damage to the acrylic without the film. You can check all the Ts & Cs on the Swiss tourism website if it worries you.

Ours went on the side of the caravan A frame cover along with the yearly service stickers.

It's meant to go on the front van window but as I have a tow cover I put it on the offside window.

Applying White Petroleum Jelly (or cling film) prior to fixing to the caravan window is illegal and very naughty. Such naughty people have been known to re sell the sticker(s) at service areas, ports and back home in blighty. Other equally naughty people buy them from others and make a nonsense of hard working Swiss officials who have jobs and need to be paid to enforce the system. I have heard it's been going on ever since they first introduced the stickers.

Such naughty behaviour deprive the Swiss government of much needed revenue.
