Dull day in the East today. All the pottering has brought forward great bounty (not the choc bar). Victoria plums from BIL bumper crop this year, spuds, tons of runner beans (my favourite), marrows and salad stuff. Might start to sort photo's today, Mrs One has two and a half thousand on her camera so I could be here for some hours

Morning all torrential rain overnight for us in Essex too. Beautifully sunny now, let's hope it lasts the bedding is in the washing machine.
This article caught my eye - a good reason to visit Essex. Long coastline diverse county and the weather 😉
I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

Off to friends for catch up and Victoria plums, question was phrased as how many buckets? 😲😲 hoping they'll be some runner beans on offer too. Defo my favourite but need to be fresh. Haven't grown any for a few years as no one at home to tend veg or crop if we're away 😢.
Oneputt I don't envy you with photos but once you've finished you'll be spot on at doing them 😉. I reckon I can compete with your wife so you can finish your apprentiship by sorting mine and I'll offer you a fully compliant certificate of competence. Who needs A levels? 😂😂😂

Have completed my apprenticeship, have just checked my desktop, Disc space taken with photos = 232 Gb
Number of photos stored 52,786
Thank goodness for large hard drives
On top of that there are other storage devices so reckon in total we must be near 70,000 plus 40 years of hardcopies

Given your photo statistics I thought I would have a look at mine and you are way ahead of me. Since 2010 just over 9000 photographs equalling 59 Gb. I will have more older ones on other devices but can't compete with you.

Can't beat that Corners even with all the pics lost when my hard drive crashed 5 years ago and only recovered a handful of files.
DK as I usually take wildlife photos the camera is usually on burst so a lot of near duplicates. Over this winter I will have a thorough sort out, changing my file system and getting rid of dross and duplicates.

Yes for me most of those are but a snapshot of a moment in time with family and friends, I still do the 'arty' ones and I like nothing more than being on my own in a new (or old) place with my kit. Perhaps 5% are good enough to be worth showing or printing.
I can often while away an hour or so looking at a particular day/month in 2005 (and gasp how I still have that same jumper). I've also started to scan in lots of Kodachrome slides, actually just name dropping there, most of the time it was Orwochrome, remember that?
When I first started it was 24 exposures on a trip (36 if I could afford it) and every shot was precious and shot for shot my photos were better than the scatter gun approach I use now. But now with 3800 pictures available on one 'film' rather than 24 I have sort of gone the opposite way, take it and maybe delete it later sort of thing or make an edited set.
You know the question what would you take out of your burning house? For me it was be the hard drive the photos are on. I have one attached to the computer, another hidden in the house and another copy at my mother in laws.

Thanks, Corners. That certainly is a lot of seconds!

Thanks, taffyY!

Thanks KjellNN! It certainly has!
I can understand why you prefer to spend July and August at home. Peak season certainly attracts the crowds not to mention higher prices! I couldn't help noticing on the last three visits the increased amount of traffic and people at all the tourist attractions. Having said that, it's nice to see people getting out and about and enjoying themselves!
