Might have to cancel

We are due to go to France on 30th Aug. Unfortunately a change in health circumstances wih an elderly relative have left us in limbo.

The holiday and ferry is now paid for. I'm trying to find 'Live Chat' to discus either changing dates or cancelling altogether. Why does Live Chat always pop up when not wanted and now I can't find it. Where do I find it.  Also many sites in the Foreign Touring brochure offer reduced cancellation fees. I can't find any info on this.

As yet I have not taken out Red Pennant

Can anyone help, rather quickly, with either question? HO is not open on a weekend.

Sorry to hear you need to cancel your holiday, we have just had to do the same. Fortunately we had only booked the tunnel which we may be able to transfer to our son. We got a refund from Red Pennant because it was the medical screening that caused us to cancel. Can't help with Live Chat, just tried to search for it and got a load of CL's and campsites come up!!!

I am not sure where you stand regarding what you have booked.

Good Luck, you may have to wait until Monday.

Sorry you need to Cancel. You have not said what ferry company? If Brittany Ferries from 46 to 6 days before you can cancel with loss of deposit + £15 amendment fee. You don't get the money back but a voucher against future travel. If within 5 days I think you can only amend not cancel. Hopefully other operators have similar policies, so you should not loose too much.

I don't think I have seen live chat come up on a weekend. So possibly only Monday to Friday.

Not cancelling yet but need to find out my options. Site cancellation band fees change on Monday from 50% loss to 75% hence looking for info this weekend.

I'm sorry too. I would wait a few days till you are clearly decided on whether you are definitely cancelling,  and then talk to the travel desk staff to ask whether any refunds are possible or whether any part of your booking can be carried over.  Web chat is a very unsatisfactory means of communication and personal contact by phone  next week will serve you better. Good wishes to you.

Using BF to Roscoff + site for first week all booked through the club. Not and issue if we need to put it back but the afternoon ferry is the last one of the season so need to check the change in price, if any, as an option

Agree with what you say about Live Chat but was just looking to sort something out quickly. All kinds of variables with circumstances at the minute. It could be that none of this will be necessary.

    Looks like Monday it is.

I'm probably telling you what you already know but if you have to cancel the tunnel crossing you can postpone it to any time within a year of the original booking (not a year from when you were travelling).  We had to do this last year and used the crossing to visit Christmas markets in Alsace. Best wishes

Live chat at the weekend?  Maybe that's it - office hours?  Hope you can work something out.

Unfortunately I have already changed it from earlier in the year when Margaret would not have been fit enough to go. I then changed it to September and we still can't go. The absolute limit is February next year but we don't fancy that. We got the crossing with Club Card points so the actual cash cost was limited.

We too had to Cancel hubby has a Archilles Problem he is off work for 8 weeks foot in  a boot and cannot drive. We cancelled at a cost of £35 , we are to be given vouchers not cash. We have been told it would take 6 weeks to process that is ok. We are gutted we cannot go yes i drive but i could not drive a  Motorhome to Plymouth then in France i thought long and hard whether i would be able to do it and i said no. But there is next year and i know we should not wish the time away but next year can not come quick enough. We love France and the last 4 years we have been there we have had good times. Even the Dog had his Rabies vaccination again had i known i would of left it till next year and saved myself £38.50 o well we are not on our own having to cancel.

I think you have answered your own question about live chat, the office is not open over weekend so there will be no one to man live chat.

I hope you get your holiday sorted to your satisfaction and your relatives health improves.

Well Folks as i said we have had to cancel but as op said on other posts that the ferry crossing was coming up good for 2018. I rang bf to see if the vouchers were processed they said they had already sent them to the club and they should receive them in a  couple of days . I also asked was it true could we only rebook with bf and not the club.Helen who we spoke to said no we can use the vouchers and rebook with the club . I went on live chat and they said no we could only book with Bf once we have the vouchers. It is a  bit confusing . As for the 6 weeks waiting for the vouchers to arrive Bf said they should only take 7 days I will keep you all informed to the outcome of this very confusing matter..  Book with the club in my mind means we can rebook with the club if we have to cancel why confuse matters .. .

Just an update on the outcome of our trip

We have had to cancel our holiday this morning. This involved both a ferry crossing and site.

The club have been brilliant over this. We had two options; either cancel completely, with a near total loss on cost or transfer the transaction to next year with an additional payment of £61.05 after taking in various costs. There was nothing to think about, option 2 it was. Only difference was there is no afternoon ferry from Roscoff in May so we opted for Portsmouth/Caen return

Site prices are not out for ITX rates yet so we opted to take camping cheques instead which got us the rate equal to the above price.

The whole procedure was first class and now we can sit back knowing everything is paid up front for next year.

My thanks to Beth and Michael from the foreign touring dept who made things very easy. It was brilliant service.

David, sorry to hear you've had to cancel again.  If February doesn't appeal, then probably December won't either. But, the Xmas markets in Germany are worth a visit.  We've been a few times and enjoyed them.

Just a thought, so you could use the tunnel tickets.

    Rowena,

    Thanks for that.

Sometimes HO staff take criticism from this forum so it will be nice if you pass on my comments.
