Caravan Club Sites I do not use

There are some CC sites that I am very likely to use. I plan my trips well ahead and they usually involve around 8 sites. As I plan ahead I have no idea if it will be glorious sunshine on a particular site.

The all grass or almost all grass sites such as Dunne'ts Bay I am happy to use. However in general I prefer that the awning area is on hard.

If there is a large predominance of grass pitches then the site is off my list. I may well choose another non-CC site.

Example: Daleacres Caravan Club Site. two thirds of the pitches are grass. There are other CC sites that I have avoided for the same reason

We tend to just take what ever pitch is available at what ever site we have booked, If we want to go to an area it matters not what pitches are on the sites,  and in the "few" years that we have used mostly club sites,  have not had an experience on any site that has stopped us making a repeat visit if we were in the area

Same as you ET, no grass sites except those we know from previous visits to be well drained eg NEB...

Rarely go to sites without Toilet blocks....

Dont go to sites mainly under trees.....

    What is NEB Tintent?

I am happy to use non facility sites and of the two dozen sites that we visit in a year there are usually a few non facility ones

Not keen on grass, so would avoid those with a high ratio early or late in the season, unless known to be OK. So far have only used those with TB, as we prefer to have facilities or a service pitch. We did plan a visit to Altnahara but had to cancel. Will certainly be going there sometime. Of the sites we have visited, the only one I would avoid going back to is the Cambridge site.

Probably. We were actually on a had stand there amongst gorse bushes full of bird life. But we also considered grass pitches on the front as ground was good - prefer hard though.

Not a site I shall revisit although I have probably been there 3 times in the last 12 years. The exit, due to tree growth, is now appalling with regard to visibility. With only having one eye functioning it makes it even harder.

Not been to all sites but out of the ones we have been to, Cambridge Cherry Hinton is a definite not return for us too.

I prefer non facility sites and grass ones but the one site I would not go back to is Bromyard Downs. We only stayed there long enough to ring the office [closed at the time] to leave a message that we were not staying. We only had a choice of about five pitches all of which we could not have put an awning up on without parking the car in front of the window and the noise from lorries changing down gear to climb the hill outside was horrible.

We tend to use the no facility sites ,they tend to be quieter, but it's more about the area than the site , of course I can't wait to get my passport and go to utopia 😎

We choose sites because they are in places we want to visit. Two sites we don't want to use again are Clumber Park, security issues and Tredegar, too close to the M4.

Would never rule out any site, Club or private. I'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming back to Cirencester Park though.....

We are with Nellie, too expensive other than in Winter, and one or two of the AS Sites. (We really enjoy Exeter Racecourse for example)

CP? It's a personal thing, bad memories of a shocking greeting by Warden on duty. It was dealt with to my satisfaction the next day, but we found the site lacked privacy, pitches too close, we just didn't like it. I appreciate others do, much as we quite like some of those others dislike. Shows how different we all are!laughing

I think tha tI have only needed to request a late departure on 2 or three occasions. Each time not a problem and each time managed to make an alternative arrangement to arrive early on next site. The next sites on these occasions were 'commercial' sites with 1 or 2pm arrival

Just shows we are all different. One of our favourite sites. We have spent more time there than anywhere else ( when mum in hospital ) however we still visit often even now.

As a heretic TDA price does not worry me greatly. wink

However when I was on Cirencester probably 5 or 6 years ago we were happy with our pitch but there were plenty that would not appeal

It was meant to be only once but with the way this forum works it's s wonder that it only showed one repeat. One is never sure if a post has actually gone or not.yell

I think one of the problems with CP is the narrow awning pitches and car in front. We don't have an awning ( apart from a roll out) so it does not bother us if we end up on one. However, I can understand those who want to deploy a full awning feeling short changed. However, for us it as much about the area, Cirencester itself, places to visit and walks from the site etc.

I don't seem to get double posts but often wonder why I haven't.

One site I am unlikely to revisit is High Onn. I suppose realy due to the length of single lane on the approach. When I visited I had not been before. Because OH hates motorways and I was feeling kind chose a route from the previous site that went through several largish towns. No idea on exact timing and no sat nav to advise. Phoned ahead and warden said 'no problem any time after 10.30'. Had I known the approach I would have picked a layby as we were early. Stopped off on  layby anyway for 15 ins and ETA 11.30am. We arrived down what turned out to be (at a guess) 500 yds of narrow one way lane and as we pulled in an outfit was about to depart.

My view might have been also coloured by by towing through 12'' deep floods and later driving off site through water well over the bottom of the car doors. laughing
