Suggest you clarify what type of insurance(s) you are looking for.
House (in UK) ? Caravan? Breakdown? Medical?

As long as we are still in the EU (and hopefully there will be reciprocal agreements afterwards) we are quite happy to rely on EHIC and the Spanish services. In the remote chance of requiring repatriation, we accept the financial risk. (I know that there will be plenty who are horrified by this approach).
I am 68 and wife 72, both with long-term, but stable, conditions. Managing repeat NHS prescriptions can be an issue, but most common drugs can be readily obtained at Spanish pharmacies with no problem and at very reasonable prices.

EHIC is OK but medical insurance gives peace of mind. Repatriation by medical care plane can cost many thousands of pounds and even sending a coffin back to UK can be costly [cheerful soul aren't I?].
If you register with a doctor in Spain I understand you can get prescriptions from them.
Over 6months stay I believe a 'residencia permit' is required and vehicles should be re-registered but manypeople seem to ignore both conditions but it could be costly if caught out.

A good starting point for travel insurance is www.moneysupermarket .com. But for a long period you need to search in Single Trip policies, not Annual Policies as you might think. Single Trip policies can be any length in the year but Annual Policies are usually time limited within the year.

Hi Signaler
If you are staying on a site for two months or more you can use the sites address and apply for a Padron from the local authority which states you are temporary residing in that area. Take this and your passport and Ehic along to the nearest Health centre and they will give you a temporary SIP card which will give you access to the Spanish Health system such as local Doctor and hospital, be aware though this only covers you for the Comunidad you are in and you will need to apply for another Padron/SIP again if you move say from Valencia too Murcia.
