Monthly CL Opened List

In a few other discussions it has been asked if there is a way to see what new sites have opened recently.

All new CL sites are published in the monthly magazines, but these can appear a couple of months after the site has been opened.

I thought that it would be beneficial for all members and CL owners if we posted a list once a month of all CL sites opened the previous month.

We do already have the following discussion board for New CL owners to advertise their sites here, and I would encourage new CL owners to continue to post on that discussion as well.

I hope this will be of some use for you all.

Thanks

Maddie (and the CL team)

Thanks Maddie. I often forget to update my bookembarassed so something like this might help me.

If you are going to print this once a month then maybe you could print the numbers of the ones that have closed, no need to name them, the number in the guide would suffice.

    Maddie

Is it a proviso that new cl's have to join as a member. If so are they made aware of Club Together and the New Cl section? It would appear not, as the "Sticky" New Certificated Locations has had very few posts from site owners and David Klyne even made a comment to that effect in April. Since then only two cli's and one established cl have posted.

    Shame really.

This thread needs to be made a sticky so that we can find it again.

Thanks, Maddie. It certainly will help, but could you also add the town that the CL will be listed under when it comes to be listed in the Site Directory.

I'd support the request from Wherenext for the SD No. of those CLs that have closed.

Maddie. I've just looked at Eastridge Caravan Park, Shropshire and the map is showing it at the wrong location. Instead of it being shown near Pontesbury, south of Shrewsbury the map shows it between Ludlow and Cleobury Mortimer off the A4117. Could you please try and sort this out. I'm sure the new CL owners would appreciate it.

Found another problem...the web site of Bwlford Small Holdings, Pembrokeshire cannot be reached for some reason.

May I ask if the club has any say in the pricing of CL's?

I ask as I thought there was an ideal new CL on the list, Dorset Springs, but FROM £15 a night for what is essentially a basic CL is far to high!

Yes, it's in a glorious area but, in my opinion, way overpriced!

I note that some of these "New Listings" are still "Awaiting Pictures".

I would have thought that as they all have to be inspected before they are accepted onto the network why can't the Site Inspector take some pictures and submit with the listing so we get a lot more idea of what it's like when considering making a booking.

Or is that to helpful to the membership?

    Maddie

It's a great idea but could be better with some of the additions that have been mentioed, location and closures being two. It would be of use to all on here.

Hmm...... Having had a brief glance through nearly all of the new entries, I have come to the conclusion, held for some time, that new CL owners are suggested a trial price and arrival times by Club representatives, or that they are tending to adhere to Club Site like arrival times. It isn't an issue for us, we phone and ask regarding arrival times wherever we book, but certainly no arrivals prior to 1 and even 2 pm might put off a few who only look at the web pages. £15 is the common price to most as well, and they differ greatly in provision and popular areas. Just my observations....

    Hi all

We do inform the new CL's about our website and encourage them to send pictures. Some will want to wait until their site has members staying and will capture pictures then. Our Field Officers have in the past taken pictures when doing the final inspection and sent them to us on the CL Owners behalf.

We do advise the CL Owners of this when we provide them with their certificate. We are currently in the processes of putting more information together to encourage the Owners to use Club Together more.

With regards to pricing, the CL's are operated and managed as independent businesses and therefore the CL owners can decide on their own pricing structures. We as a Club encourage them not to price themselves out of the market otherwise members will be deterred from using them but we do not have any final say in what they charge.

I will add the location to next month’s list of new sites, the closed sites will continue to be published in the monthly magazines.

Nellie – I will look in to getting Eastridge Caravan Park and Bwlford Small Holdings fixed, thank you for highlighting these.

    Thanks

    Maddie

New CL owners are most welcome to join the every expanding CL Owners Group.  We now number around 300 CL's the length and breadth of the UK.  The group is free to join.  More information and joining instructions for CL Owners can be found on our website.

Thanks, Maddie. Good to see the towns included. Could you encourage the new CL owners to post a photo or 2 of their site, as that certainly helps with selection IMO.

    Hi Nellie

We do provide a some information regarding photographs and the website when we send them their certificates. Some CL sites will wait until they have members on their site to take some photos.

I know that Higher Elms Farm sent theirs through yesterday so will hopefully be uploaded in the next few days.

I did see some dog friendly sites on that list so hopefully some new sites there for you to visit laughing

    Thanks

    Maddie

Maddie, you may be interested in a post by John of the Newton Grove CL, Oxfordshire, who is a very forward looking CL owner.  You will find it under the ' Tips on making Caravanning and Touring cheaper' section and then the 'How to thrive on a non 240v site' thread. Because of the very poor search facility on the club website, where,  if you tick 'no facilities ' you get every conceivable facility thrown up thereby avoiding non EHU sites, the members have had to do it themselves where non EHU caravaners can find sites. That is being updated monthly too by private effort . This is something that the club should be doing but is singularly failing to do. There are, at the time of writing,  448 non EHU sites on the network. We are members too you know!!

Is there any chance that new CLs can be added to the clubs (hopeless) app? Apart from the issue of no prices being available for CLs on the app, it is not being updated to reflect new (and no longer available) sites.

    Thanks

Thanks, Maddie, a great help for those who are away and don't get to see the latest magazines till we get home.

Just one question:- Is Green Pastures a new site or one that has just recently re-opened, as there are reviews on the web page for it going back over 2 yrs. Some of the site details also appear to be incorrect as the accompanying photos show Hardstanding pitches which are not mentioned.

What I would like to see is a list of 'new CLs' opened issued as a supplement in the alternate years where a handbook is not issued. Given that we no longer receive a paper updated price list, I fear that it is a forlorn hope. Merely indicative of the penny-pinching approach of the HO bean counters.
