What are you all up to

I forgot to mention that one of the places we visited yesterday on the IOW was St. Catherines Down, NT, countryside at Blackgang. There is a walk along a short path that takes you to the cliff top with magnificent views.
All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day out! It all went according to plan i.e. daytime spent visiting English Heritage properties and after 5 p.m. closure, going on to visit NT countryside places.

I've got a day off on Wednesday but the forecast says rain, so no plans to go anywhere. Maybe just spend the day in at our outfit chilling!

At this rate, I think you're going to need another holiday, KjellNN. Better to get out and about before the summer is over. You'll have plenty of time at home when winter comes! Maybe best to postpone all this work until then!
Reading your posts makes me feel lucky that I don't have a house with so many jobs to do!

I dropped my wife off at Goring station in time for her train. The train was due to leave at 11:03 and she had to change at Burgess Hill for the Thameslink train to London Bridge. She is due to arrive there at 12:35 and so will have time for lunch before her dental appointment.

It has been raining all morning here in Notts. We were going to go across to the van storage and remove the carpets to bring home for Vaxing, however will wait till it's a bit drier. Anyway we got side tracked looking for a picture amongst boxes of slides that date back over 40 years. We have not found the ones we were looking for, however came across this one. It is amazing what you could do when you were only 21.😂 I did clear the water by the way, I think now I would end up in it.☹️

There have been heavy showers here too, this afternoon but sunny spells in between. I had lunch at about midday followed by an afternoon nap and now awake again! It was a healthy lunch of Salmon, with boiled potatoes, peas, courgettes and the insulin bearing bitter gourd.

Yes, it seems a pity that there's so much rain this summer. It seems the jet stream is in the wrong position. Nevertheless, it may be best to try to get out and about as much as possible. The days are drawing in and there will be less and less hours of daylight to explore the countryside. We are now only about three weeks away before the start of the Autumn months and only about six weeks until the Autumn Equinox before the nights start getting longer than the days!
If you download the National Trust app, you will find plenty of countryside places to visit that are open from dawn to dusk. Whilst we were on the Isle of Wight, we found plenty of NT countryside places to visit that kept us out and about up until 8 p.m. when it was time to get back to check in for our return crossing.
With retrospect, it might have been better to have booked an earlier crossing that would have enabled us to complete the journey home in daylight. It would have been possible to do so at that time in June when the daylight hours are longer. So you can already see the difference now in the shorter hours of daylight.

Must be the day for dental appointments. I had one this afternoon as well after a flying visit to youngest grandson. At five months, he's getting a lot more responsive.

I don't think I could even attempt it now Steve!

A really horrid day here today - cold and wet. It brought the visitors into the Cathedral though. We had a very busy afternoon.

Just shows how we are all different!
I actually enjoy a challenge, hate sitting about doing nothing useful.
Doing stuff in the house keeps me active, and preserves its value, and I do enjoy DIY, even when there are problems.
Plus OH would not be amused If I delayed sorting the kitchen!
We have already had 3 months away this year, and have another month booked, we set aside July and August for the garden and house, some things do have to be done when the weather is (hopefully) better.
Plenty of time to relax come October and November.
As an engineer, and a practical person, there is little I cannot fix.
Drawer kits arrived this afternoon, so time now to get on with making the drawers.
Should have all 3 drawers made by tomorrow night.

Having been reduced to using a walking stick for a few days a month ago I have enjoyed doing some pruning and shrub cutting today, a full car load to tip and caravan in tomorrow to sort fridge, Hopefully if weather holds garden sorted in next week.

Not a bad day here, sunny and cloudy, but no rain for a change
.
OH went out this afternoon for shopping while I got started on cutting the drawer bases and backs. Some of them will also need their sides made higher so things do not fall out of the sides.
DD and husband are off tomorrow to London for a few days, so we are in charge of their 6 budgies. We have to visit every day to feed them and let them out for a bit. They are back late on Saturday.
SIL is back to school on Monday, he is a teacher, children go back a couple of days later.
On this coming Thursday, we are going to the Crayfish Party at Ikea, so it is all go here.

Also waiting for a few other deliveries......new antifreeze for our Alde heating.....new outside light for the front door.....patio cleaner for slabs round the house.....and the plinth heater for the kitchen reorganisation.
All that will keep me busy, some things will not be done till after our September trip.
We also have our gardener coming in the next 2 weeks to help me rebuild the steps up the top of the garden.

Our new parlour is virtually finished - and much appreciated by man and beast. I'm expecting a rather large bill in the post any day now.

It started off sunny when I first woke up this morning but clouds are gathering as I type this.

Oh dear! Does that mean the price of milk will go up?
It looks good though from the photo!0 -
Ditto to the rain. It just seems to be easing in North Notts, after over 24 hours more or less non stop. From the weather forecast Malcolm it is now heading south, I think you are in for a lot this afternoon. ⛈☔️Hopefully here it will start to dry up, I think tomorrow is supposed to be OK. Nice to see the site is working a bit better this morning. A snail would have shown it a clean pair of heals yesterday. 🐌

KjellNN ... you are very like my OH, he likes to do jobs himself, that way he says it's done properly, he usually stands over and watches if we do have to get someone in for the odd job he can't do!
Good luck with all your jobs, hope they all go well.

No rain here yet, so dry dog walk.
Collected the caravan last night from storage, got it home and motor mover hand set wouldn't work! OH managed to turn van round at the top of our cul De sac, and the reverse it onto the drive, although it's too long to fit so has to extend onto a bit of garden too. Checked out mover handset and decided it was a loose connection, working now. Booked a weekend at Stamford, off tomorrow afternoon after work
Goldie, new parlour looks good hope the cows like it too.

Have a nice weekend Helen. We are off to Houghton Mill this weekend otherwise we could have met up. I hope the weather dries up a bit for all of us.
Goldie the new milking parlour looks great. I would have no problem with the price of milk going up if it meant the farmers got paid a fair price.

Thanks Millie, I thought I remembered you saying you were off to Houghton Mill, otherwise I would have been in touch.
Have a lovely time, hope the weather improves too, not sure what has happened to summer.

Meanwhile, the sun is shining (at least for the next two days we hope), so the mowers are hitched up and 3rd cut silage is about to begin.
