Amboise ...moving on

currently at L'lle d'or campsite in Amboise,Loire valley. Looking to move on in a couple of days - could do with some campsite recommendations. We are 2 adults with 2 dogs - would like to be near a town /village, would like to see a few more chateaus - any ideas anyone?

    heading east or west?

    the Loire has chateux dotted all along the river in either direction from where you are....too many places to make a suggestion, just look at the map and they will be marked.

    I have moved it for you.

    At Chinon there is a campsite on the river opposite the town. At Saumur there is a campsite on an island within walking distance of the town.

    There's a site at Blere that we have used in the past, right on the edge of the town. If you are fairly fit you can walk to Chenonceau from there along the river. Another nice one at Azay-le-Rideau. You have plenty of choice along the Loire, Cher or La Vienne rivers.
