    KjellNN,

That’s the same heater I installed, mine was from Plumb Nation. I put the additional thermostat in as mine is just a kitchen and I didn’t see the point in the unit pumping out heat when the kitchen was warm but the central heating still on for the rest of the house. The thermostat only controls the fan so the water still flows through the coil if the central heating is on but the fan is turned off by the thermostat, I hope that makes sense.

I have mounted mine directly on the floor, but there is only a small gap to the unit above, when I get home after work I will post a picture of it.

As you probably know the unit has a two speed fan. I only need it on the lower speed so not very noisy, but my kitchen sounds a fair bit smaller than yours.

Thanks, yes, just ordered it from PlumbNation, best price by about £5.

I think I will probably try to put ours right down on the floor, will mean there will be more of the plinth left above the cut out so stronger, our plinth height is about 150mm.

Is yours a solid floor, or suspended?  Our kitchen is on the upper floor, so a chipboard floor over joists.  I  will try it out sitting on  the floor before I cut the plinth, just in case the fan noise increases due to the "hollow" floor.  That would be annoying!

Just written to the NT withdrawing my membership for the disgusting treatment and thought police tactics used  against the staff at  lovely Felbrigg! What a cheap trick by Helen Ghosh! She has badly harmed what was a wonderful British institution and left a bad taste in my mouth. .

Our visit to Osborne House was amazing. I never realised how vast the house and its estate was! The dining room was particularly impressive. It was well worth the visit. The gardens all round were magnificent. Whilst there we had our picnic lunch before moving on to Carisbrooke Castle which is a completely different experience but well worth visiting too!

Helen Ghosh will find that it will come back to bite her. The NT need to engage in a damage limitation exercise pretty sharpish if they don't want to alienate both customers and volunteers.

Had to go to White Arches today so we thought we would go and have a look at the new Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre. Not quite Bluewater or Milton Keynes but it was certainly busy and not all the shops are open yet. We tried about four places to get a coffee but with no luck so went across the road to Waitrose for a free one!! Rushden Lakes has an interesting setting and has incorporated the lakes with wildlife viewing opportunities. Might go back when the kids are back at school.

If you're in the area our nearest Waitrose in Crewkerne has finally got a coffee shop. There are no big shopping centres to distract from the choice of cakes and big spends but there are other coffee shops. wink

Bang on Cyber! I know of at least 4 people in my fairly limited group of associates that are pulling their support. I hope they mean it! I will return but only when she is gone and only when I see some real evidence that the organisation is thinking and acting in a neutral way. I think she is getting a bit of a kicking at the moment and a good job!

Why leave, just protest if you want to but  the NT has provided us with huge spread of country and coast. The leaders might be expendable but the heritage and access is the important bit.

Because I feel so strongly Brue. They need to understand that appointing people like Ghosh who has never done a proper job in her life and has always sucked on the teat of the public purse, can do immense harm and has. As I said, I will return but only when some sanity returns too.

English Heritage perhaps? She's off the Oxford University soon anyway- she'll fit in there perfectly as most of the students are already left thinking sheeple! This is the only protest I can make so I will exercise my right to do so - while we have rights left that is and with Ghosh and co, it would appear that they are disappearing fast!!

Mine's on a suspended floor with traditional floorboards. There's no hint of vibration, the unit is quite heavy especially when full of water.

if you do mount it in the centre of your plinth bare in mind the grille is flush with the bottom of the heater with no lip or flange.

tried to load a photo but I'll have to resize it at work tomorrow

Don't know about that but the NTS have also been in the news, a bit of an argument about using the word Glencoe. We joined years ago so have all the benefits of long term members.

    Lord help the Balliol College!

There will be no Easter Egg hunt there!

As for wind turbines being 'rather beautiful things' she has obviously never tried to get to sleep within 100 yards of one.

Weather wide a really good day, only 1 shower.  No sea eagles or blotters spotted but had a lovely drive around Skye.  Top tip - diesel around here (Kyle of Lochalsh)  is anywhere from £1.18 to £1.23, however on Skye at Broadford there is a Gulf station selling diesel at £1.129.surprised

We've just arrived at the Fishbourne ferry teminal to await our return crossing. We're in the terminal cafe having a cup of Cappucino whilst waiting. Our ferry sails in half an hour.

After Carisbrooke Castle we visited the Needles and then went on to another NT viewpoint from which we proceeded to the NT St Helens Dulver before going on to the ferry terminal. A fascinating day out driving along the south coast of the island, so different from the northern part! Much more remote and less built up.

Lovely catch up with eldest grand-daughter who came to eat with us this evening. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since she spent all her school holidays with us - such happy days. Now she is 22!!

A bit academic if you will forgive the pun as she is leaving in March to become Master of Balliol College, at Oxford University.

We enjoyed the ferry crossing back to the mainland. It was still daylight when we left Fishbourne but the sun was setting and it gradually got dark during the crossing so that you could see the lights go on. By the time we reached Portsmouth, we had a spectacular view of it all lit up.

It was just after 21:30 when we docked and drove off the ferry. I was surprised at the amount of traffic at that time of night going through Portsmouth and on to the motorway. It started to ease as we got closer to Worthing along the A27.

Before returning to the site, we called in at Tesco Extra and bought a microwavable takeaway meal for two. We finally arrived back at our caravan at 22:30 to have our evening meal.

Later this morning, I will need to take my wife to Goring railway station to get the 11 a.m. train to London Bridge for her dental appointment at Guys Hospital. We can't both go in the Smart car because I'm working 18:00 to 22:00 tonight, so I wouldn't be able to get back in time for work. Her appointment is at 14:00 and is likely to take over an hour so that she will probably arrive back after I leave for work, which will mean a walk back here, for her, from Goring railway station.

It's sunny here in Worthing at the moment, as I type this, although there is some white cloud. We've finished breakfast of Shredded Wheat minis followed by two slices of toast and I am now on my second cup of tea.
