Really frustrating. I can pick up a price for Portsmouth/ Bilbao but not Portsmouth/Santander. Then I could pick up a price for Portsmouth/Caen but when I bought camping cheques it won't let me look at prices again.

We booked direct this afternoon for next year on the BF web site and saved quite a lot compared to the price from the club. Even if we bought camping cheques the club offer was more expensive. Surprisingly, BF have only put the price up by about £6 on a Portsmouth/Caen return trip.

Yes, it does that switching for some reason and if you don't notice is a real time waster.

Are the timetables themselves downloadable? Last year as a Club Voyage member they sent me a nice little folded version.

    Hi obbernockle,

We should never be more expensive than a ferry operator, at worse we would be the same price. If you come across this again then please give us a call so we can get the correct price for you.

I phoned today to ask if someone could tell me if the Camping Cheque offer had been withdrawn as the 3 prices I had for the Portsmouth/Caen crossing - all different depending on when I looked for a price - were not discounted. I would also like to know why a crossing out in May back in July is over £177.90 more than last year. The operator could not give me an answer - I have not booked yet but I do hope if there is a problem those who have will be informed and the correct discounts given to then.

    Hi Sianelen,

I'm sorry for the late reply but I have been away from Club Together.

The ferry fares are dictated by the operators and not the Club so I am unable to comment on the increase.

If you are getting different prices and are not confident they are correct please call our Travel Team and they can quote and book for you.

    Kind Regards

    Tracy

    Thanks Trace,

I've been in contact with the club and all is sorted - the Camping Cheques discount will apply later in the year!

Next year we go either south from Caen or East from Hook of Holland in June next year return July for 30 nights

Brittany Ferries to Caen day sailing      £388

    Club price                                              £425.50

    Stena Line to Holland                            £238

    Club price                                              £264

If you match all operators then why are these prices dearer.

Don't rush to pay full price a year in advance - the offers will come later.

Yes, I always use the afternoon crossing but for the purpose of the example above the club did not offer an option for an afernoon crossing. I have just checked the timetable and the date I gave outbound was a Wednesday and there are no 14.45 sailings.

Just recalculated the fare Portsmouth to Caen, Thursday crossings. Didn't take into account Camping Cheques

    BF        Out 14.15 Back 08.30     £388

    Club                 ditto                     £343

So club are cheaper for that crossing. Interestingly the difference on BF morning and afternoon crossings is only £10 each way so not sure if the free caravan offer exists next year. However the club difference is an extra  £72,50

I think, as ET said, it may be best to wait a little while. You certainly need to do some home work as there are some many variables on price.

The Camping Cheque offer - free caravan -  is not available yet it should be available later in the year.

We booked August last year for Portsmouth Caen out in May 14.45 back July 8.30 with 3 Camping Cheques for £240 this years quote with 5 Camping Cheques £432.75!

I will post as soon as I see that the offer is available.

Hello there can anyone help me we had to cancel our ferry crossing we booked with the club. We was told that we will receive a voucher to the value of minus the £35 pounds and we would receive this in 6 weeks times. I assume this if coming direct from B F ,

What we are not sure of is can we use this voucher to book again via the club or does it have to be through Brittany Ferries , We can ring tomorrow to confirm this but if anyone has any knowledge regarding this that would be great. We always book with the club so booking direct with BF will be alien to us . We have two dogs we take as well ..thanks everyone

Arrivakid, Wait till the refund voucher comes and see what it says. If it's from Brittany Ferries it will say how long it is valid for - I think it is for two years. It will be in the name of the lead passenger and not transferable. If you have unused Camping Cheques save them as they will be valid till the end of next year.

To re book directly with Brittany Ferries is very simple - not an alien experience at all. You can do it on line or by phone. Unlike this Club their office is open 7 days a week. Pay the new deposit when you re book and use the vouchers to pay the balance  - which will be due 46 days before you travel.

it really is not a problem.

I have found that for some reason putting in the required minimum amount of camping cheques (5) does not seem to give you a discount.  If you put 7 as the amount it does.  I've just tried again..

P-C route. Out 31 May 14.45 sailing return 21 June 8.30 sailing with 7 cheques. £390. Same dates and route but with 5 cheques £470.

I don't think the discount has been set up correct to take into consideration that only 5 cheques are now required. It's still defaulting to 7.

AS. That glitch was there all last year too, and the year before when you could just take 3 Camping Cheques. You have to phone the Club instead of trying to book on line if you want discounted fares with 5 Cheques instead of 7. Don't ask me why !

Eurortraveller  i have received the Voucher on  a piece of headed paper  from Brittany Ferries. My confusion is this Brittany Ferries say i can rebook with the club with my voucher but the club said no i cannot. We did not buy any cheques for this month as we was still in the high season . So when i rebook and if i have to rebook with Brittany Ferries how do i get my cheques , Because i understand only the cheques can be bought at the time of booking with the Club.If you buy later it would cost more overall . I hope you get what i mean .. Should we re book asap or leave it till after December ?We had to cancel as Hubby has an Injury and is unable to drive.. We only lost £35 had we used our travel insurance it would of cost us £135. But we would of received the money in cash never had to cancel before . I do think if you purchase through the club you should at least be able to rebook with the club .

ArrivaKid, you are right. If you re-book directly with Brittany Ferries you will have to make do without Camping Cheques which are only sold by this Club as a package with a booking.  - but that will be no great hardship to you, will it. The Camping Cheques are of use at such a limited number of sites, and with your new Motorhome you will probably be staying on Aires instead.

I 'm afraid I can't help you decide choosing when to make your booking - I only do that about a month before I travel, but some people like to make plans further ahead than I do.

I wish you better luck next time round.
