Keeping Cool
Having just returned from 6 sweltering weeks in the South of France, I am looking for a method of keeping the caravan cool. Has anyone used a "Transcool Portable Evaporative Cooler" and if so what do you think of it?
Regards
Colin

Hi Colin, yes I have a Transcool - expensive but I find it really useful as I am one of those unfortunate dudes who only have to move in hot weather and I perspire aggressively!! Just had 3 weeks in Dorset and it was HOT- The transcool (and I believe I'm correct in this) runs at 15degs below the ambient temperature . The other advantages with it is that it takes very little power, you can put things like Teatree oil, Olbas oil etc and have a sweet smelling van( not suggesting for one minute that yours doesn't smell sweet!!!)! It's fairly quiet but at max revs you know it's there. Not a bad product at all but it's all about evaporation. A regular spray with a spray bottle and a 12v fan might help too!

We used our transcool last year in the south of France when temps were reaching 36 degrees. Although not as cooling as normal air con ( I guess), its use meant that we were able to use the van during the day, and could sleep comfortably at night. Was also useful to aim at a really hot dog.
