Just want to thank Diane and everybody who offered advice about our trip to Croatia....it all went well.  We changed our motorhome 6 days before we left and the new van never missed a beat.....well done Simpsons!

The ACSI organisation was first class(with only one error), the Dutch guides were brilliant.

2500 miles, 7 countries, 6 excursions, 7 meals............what an adventure, Croatia lived up to what I hoped it would be.

I have learnt loads.....some things I would not do again and lots of things I would do differently.

Just got to get the ACSI card now in readiness for our next trip.

When my head gets back to normality and we have everything sorted, all cleaned and ready to go, I will indeed do what you suggested.

We were supposed to go to Croatia next Friday but have deferred and are going to France instead, even though it will be busy there are plenty of sites and Aires to get on and a lot cheaper.  Looking like you need to book in high season and many sites we looked at wanted 57-60 Euro pn.  Wanted to tour a bit so we will go another year a bit out of season when it will be quieter and cheaper.

What lessons did you learn in the not what to do and what to do different?

I will write a fuller account later....but driving to deadlines takes away the ability to just stop and have a look round.

Not to book the return ferry until you are ready to return, if its booked you have be there on that day.

I will explain later, at the moment we are still getting back to normality.

I am new to MHing, but have been to Croatia every year for the past 12 years staying in apartments.  We can't wait to drive down there next year.

The Dalmation coast if beautiful. Beaches are stone, but go into any market and buy water shoes and also sponge beds. These are for lying on the beach and are very comfortable, also useful for sunbathing elsewhere.

Make sure you try Ćevapčići, and the fish is always good. Hvala is thankyou, Molim is please, Dovidenja (pronounced Dobrejenya) is good bye and Dober dan (prounced as written) is the usual form of greeting (it means good day). Lastly a pekara is a bakers.

There is a nice camp site just south of Trogir at Seget Doji, right by the sea. Trogir is also worth a visit especially in the evening with the super yaghts. You can get a water taxi from Seget.

If you can try driving over to Mostar in Bosnia, the route is beautiful.

Just returned from our Croatia adventure , we travelled  down through Austria and Slovenia and stayed at Val Saline on the Istrian Peninsular with car and caravan .

Fabulous new site, not cheap , but facilities to die for , private beach, top class loo blocks , super clean ,mostly fully serviced large pitches , great restaurant if required . What an experience .

About 250 large pitches and we were the only English on site in late June but no problem . Fantastic old town of Rovinj just a bus ride away for 3 Euros , with Porec and Pula an easy 25 minute drive .

    Can't wait to return.
