We are looking forward to seeing her more often, especially as she will be on her own, no little brother around to cause trouble
Glad you had a nice tour of the Cathedral precincts.
I'm afraid its me in our family that never turns on my mobile, I think the £10 I put on it last year still has £6 still to go everyone knows not to call it as its never on, purely for my use if I'm out on my own and I run into problems

I got my rota for the week ahead. Today, Monday and Tuesday are days off. So 3 days off now. Then from Wednesday to Sunday 20 hours to do at work. Wednesday 18:00 to 22:00, Thursday 17:00 to 21:00, Friday 18:00 to 21:00, Saturday 18:00 to 23:00 and Sunday 18:00 to 22:00.
We plan to visit the NT Standen House and Gardens today where we'll have our picnic lunch.

Tammygirl, it might be worth turning it on and using it every so often as I have heard that if it is not used for a certain length of time the provider disconnects it.

Yesterday the weather steadily improved so that by evening we could sit outside and celebrate (almost) 47 years of Wedded Bliss.

I had that problem with a Spanish SIM I had. Forgot to switch it on on one occasion when we were longer than six months between visits. Next time found the SIM was dead. Lost about 14 Euros.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Goldie.

A friend of mine didn't use her mobile phone and only kept it for if she had an emergency. When she did have a problem she found that her phone was dead so it is worth just using it occasionally.

My mother has a pay as you go mobile which lives in an old glasses case in the glove compartment of her car. She notes her calendar to ensure she charges it up and phones her house phone, and answers it to retain her credit balance. Recently though it has been used in action as she's had sisters in hospital so been using it to ring them.
I have a NZ SIM card and have reminders to use it to keep the number active. I went to do text yesterday to get a message back that there was insufficient credit to send it. Then I remembered I lent it to son when he was over there travelling, he'd let his lapse, naturally despite topping it up whilst using it he managed to use the bulk of it before coming home. Can't top up with UK card so awaiting daughter to send me the code after she's purchased top up. Life's a game and half isn't it?

Bright and sunny start to the day here. Holiday dog walk which was lovely exploring on foot up to a different for us park, the local estate we usually use had 'race for life' taking place. Black clouds developing the whole couple of hours we were out. we got within 20 feet of front door when the first spots started. We've had a very heavy shower for 45 minutes so we'd be very wet if it was any further. 😇

Started damp and grey but its a bit brighter now and surprisingly warm.
Went to see Mum for an hour or so before her lunch, brought back a pair of trousers that the hem has come down on, will sort that before going up on Tuesday to take her to the hospital for her new hearing aid.
Bit of food shopping done on the way home, lots of nice fruit. We have both managed to lose some weight about 6 lbs each so far
Not stopping on here long as I need to go upstairs and start sorting out what is going on Gumtree for sale and what is going to the Charity shop.
MillieH thanks for the warning about the phone, I do charge it up regularly but haven't used it for ages so will give it a try.

Congratulations! It looks nice there with that round table and the caravan in the background not to forget the pouring of a glass of wine!

We visited Standen House and Gardens. It was a lovely sunny morning and we enjoyed the drive there through beautiful countryside. We had our picnic in the picnic area at the bottom of the car park with views over the reservoir. We also enjoyed a walk around the gardens before visiting the house. The conservatory was particularly impressive with its variety of plants.
On the way back we stopped off at Nymans but just as we got to the car park there, it started tipping it down with rain. So we abandoned the walk around there and headed for home. We're now sitting out in the awning, enjoying a drink and some snack to eat in the continuing downpour with the noise of the rain pattering on the awning roof, to remind us of being close to nature!

I think it was possibly because OH wanted a Miele oven and they did not have double ones, plus at the time we also had a large combi microwave, so did no need a double oven.
Now however the Siemens combi is also on its last legs and we only have one housing unit for an oven, so the plan is to alter the existing housing to take a double oven, and get a smaller microwave with grill later, this will free up more space on the worktop.

Well,in this case I cannot complain, the Miele oven needs replaced as the door seal no longer works (yes, we have tried replacing it) and the oven light is broken and cannot be replaced as the oven will soon be 30 years old!
The Siemens combi oven is over 30 years old, so cannot complain there either.
At least she is not asking for a whole new kitchen....yet!

Yes, and a really strange looking one at that. The very small door stop is in the centre of the lining/frame, rather than immediately behind the facing on a traditional frame.
Never really studied them before, no doubt made to be reversible as these are doors that are ready hung in the frames before they are fitted in the walls, so factory produced for builders and easy fitting.
All MDF these days, so difficult to remove without damage, The new one is real wood. I have left the painting for her to do herself!

We have just had some devastating news. Our daughter has just been in touch to tell us that out SIL's stepsister has just died having had a massive heart attack. I cannot believe that such a thing can happen to someone so young. I cannot begin to imagine how her mother, who is a friend of mine, must be feeing. Also her 3 children who are only late teens and early twenties are going to find this so very difficult to cope with. We are all in shock.

Thank you brue. We just have to keep strong and make the best of each day as it comes.

We've just got up to a rather grey and wet start to the morning. My wife has an appointment at the surgery for a blood test this morning, so I'll need to take her to that first before we make any other plans for today.

Bit rough in the van last night, a little rock n rollin, wind seems to have moderated. Between the rain yesterday we walked up to the valley floor of High Cup Nick to get a totally different perspective. On the way up we spotted and managed to photograph a wild Pole Cat.. Nearly got back to car when the heavens opened, such is life oop north

Just got back from the surgery appointment. Light showers on and off with grey skies. The blood test meant my wife coukdn't eat anything between 9 p.m. last night and her appointment this morning, so she's having her breakfast now.

No it's the weather forecast that gave that prescription!
