After  my  stay  at  Thetford  CaMC site,  ( Where  it's  the  only  stuff  the  Wardens stock )  I've  taken  to  using  "Arla  Cravendale"  milk  when  I'm  in  the  'van.  It  tastes  better  than  the  usual  Long Life  stuff  even  tho'  it  does  not  last  as  long  and  it  out  performs  the  regular  cow  juice, whilst   allegedly,  helping  those  poor  farmers  a  bit.

    All  Very  Moooving  wink

Down at daughter's house all day today, fitting new door linings and re-hanging  kitchen door to open the other way.

Makes the kitchen look much more spacious, and gives better space in the dining area.

OH has decided on a new oven, an AEG, so will get that ordered up soon.  I will need to alter the oven housing as we are  going from single to double oven.  I cannot remember why we did not get a double one originally.

I remember buying Cravendale milk from Tesco,  a while ago, at the reduced pride of 13 pence for 4 pints because it had reached its sell by time. We had to use it up quickly though, so it was puddings with custard, cocoa before going to bed at night, bread sauce with chicken and plenty of cups of tea and coffee in between!

The Tesco milk carton tells a different story. It says, "FAIR FOR FARMERS GUARANTEE," " WE PROMISE: Every farmer is paid fairly for every pint of milk, every pint is 100 % British, Every cow is well cared for."

Now what do you say to that?

Don't  know  what  s/markets  use  to  decide  on  "Sell  By  Date"  Malcolm,  but  the  stuff  I  get  has  21 days  life  if  unopened  and then  seven  days  once  opened.

After the fair weather this morning, we've had heavy rain this afternoon and a very grey overcast sky. Does this mean summer is over? If it continues like this, I'm going to get a right soaking doing the deliveries tonight!

You probably made the schoolboy error of listening to OH K

12 months after I started going out with OH - about 17 years ago - I completely redid her kitchen. (I used to often cook at her place as well as here and the kitchen was terrible. I said that if she paid for materials I would completely replace everything. Fliss said that she did not want a full oven as she was happy with her counter top combi. Thankfully I include a fused isolation switch and wiring etc ready! Just new that (after I had redone the bathroom and the house was put on the market) a few years later she would want an oven going in. Wimmin!!

For me, it's the joys of full-time caravanning to be thankful for! Such issues do not arise in a caravan!

I was younger and fitter when I re-did that kitchen. Took two weeks off work, Removed old tiles and units. Rebuilt inner wall under window, Moved heating controls upstairs, fitted 5 double sockets and switched points for various white goods, Tiled floor and walls full height, fitted base and wall units and lighting, extractor etc and in the second week went abroad with OH. laughing

Wish I could graft like that now!

I guess the next time we'll get a new kitchen is if and when we change our caravan. Then it will come ready fitted with the new van. Saves a lot of work, that does!

Sorry I have to ask as you've typed it many times so can't be a typo! What is a door lining?

Glad it's looking good. Most satisfying.

Another miserable day here, grey skies with wind and occasional rain, very dark indoors feels like winter

As  the weather is rubbish we decided to tackle the dreaded attic   time once again to sort out all the bits we have stored up there. Car load going to the skip tomorrow, a load going to charity and another load I will attempt to sell/give away. Storage side of attic now looks neat and tidy.

Other half of attic we converted to a room years ago. We had velux windows installed and made the room a bit like a studio. I have used it to do crafts in over the years and my sewing and  knitting machine are up there.

We have decided to upgrade it with new velux windows, redecorate and re-carpet it. With our eldest GD coming up here to go to boarding school in the next 6 weeks, we thought she would like it as her own 'pad' she will only be 30 mins away from us, so weekend visits are on the cards. When our boys were at that school they often came and stayed with my parents at the weekend, bringing friends so I'm hoping the same will happen once she settles in to school life.

Door frame in dining room got another coat of undercoat paint, think it should be ok for the gloss coat now. Just got to scrabble round the floor now doing the skirting boards   then we can get on and paint the walls, last job will be to wallpaper one wall as a feature wall.

Tammygirl how exciting that your granddaughter will be nearby very soon and what a lovely idea for her own pad. Will it curtail your trips? Is this a Malta grandchild?

Good to know you've been very productive - again 😲😲.  Weather hasn't been brilliant here, lots of showers and much cooler 16c since about 1030, I got a sweatcardi out about 3pm brrrr bring back summer the garden is looking fresh though but it's making the grass grow!

No not a Malta GD, laughing this is the eldest grandchild, her dad is in the army currently living in Tidworth but a posting could be on the cards. We love the idea of her being nearer to us she is great company, how that will change in the next few years who knows.

We don't think it will curtail our trips,  smile her other grandparents also live here so she will not be short of back up. Once they get settled into school life, they have so much to do at that school. Coming out at the weekends to 'oldies' is not as appealing as going rock wall climbing, skiing, canoeing etc. she will also have to learn one of the Scottish disciplines  of Bagpipes, Drums or Scottish dancing so extra lessons for this.

End of term and half terms is when we may need to be around as the school takes Scottish term times, her Mum is a TA and her brother is still in school in England so her holidays won't always coincide.  We already have the dates from when she starts up to Christmas, the rest we will sort out when they come up in August.

Your weather sounds just like ours, schools out now in England so what can you expect laughing at least we had 2 nice days at the beginning of the week. I've only cut the grass 3 times so far this year (friend did when away) bushes growing like crazy though.

No its not, milk here is very cheap compared to the rest of Europe where its double what we pay and that's in the main supermarkets even dearer in the smaller shops.

How lovely that you will have your grand-daughter nearby for a few years tammygirl and what a lovely idea that she will have her own pad at your house.

As it was a nice sunny morning we decided to go on the tour of the Cathedral precincts. The guide was a lovely lady who has been a guide for many years but is now 'semi retired' (if you can call a volunteer retired) and just does the occasional specialised  tour. She took us round areas not normally open to the general public and even better told us some wonderful and amusing tales about the people who have lived in the precincts over the years. We got home just as the rain started and it hasn't stopped since so some long overdue indoor jobs this afternoon.

Bakers2 your OH sounds like mine. He does have a mobile phone (my old one) but he has no idea how to use it and it is usually switched off 😠

I would prefer to pay more so that the diary farmers got a fair amount but the supermarkets seem to be the only places selling it round here. No milk deliveries these days unfortunately.
