What are you all up to

We stayed an extra night at Pandy before heading home. Prefered a chill out day rather than towing home for 3 hours in blustery torrential weather. Not a big site and probably less than 80 vans but there have been over 80 House Martins flying around.

Hair cut this morning followed by a visit to the vets this afternoon with our 2 rather elderly cats. Luckily they were given a clean bill of health. I then finally finished the huge pile of holiday ironing. The rather chilly start to the day developed into a lovely warm sunny afternoon. All in all a good day. 😊.
Thanks for the laugh bakers2. I hope it has all been sorted out now. 😂

Well done to those of you that have had productive days, milliehull, ABM,Goldie, Tammygirl. Ours has progressed on the well under could do better, see earlier posts if you've not read them - they'll keep you entertained 😉. Dinner was very tasty, lots to freeze, the fruit salad refreshing and there's more for tomorrow 😆. SIM card remedy in place. Son won the company's charity golf day so he started our conversation from a good position 😉. I think it's probably the first time he's used their house phone 😂 he said" I understand that you (me) had a confession to make!" He has golf club championships tomorrow and Sunday so no point us going all the way to theirs so meet a Duxford which is about halfway 9.30am . Hubby has agreed to do that whilst I sort holiday dog. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day?
Actually we've had a great day weather wise so that's a definite plus 😆

I am about to start packing to go to either Norden THS for the Swanage Carnival or to my very poorly 88 year old mother who is now very frail and has just recently been in hospital again. Not sure yet! Son and I are on stand by at last minute dot com😥

I hope you have a good day whatever happens Vivien. It sounds as though you are having a worrying time.

Sorry to hear that, Vivien. I went thro similar problems with my father except I was living in the same house. It certainly curtailed my travelling/touring for a couple of years but I would not have had it any other way.
I must admit that the mobile fone does make life a little easier even tho' it can be a tad too convenient at times. My elderly sister and I, each of us in our own homes, have the same views on life in this area. Should folk be told we are ill, ailing or worse -- what can they do -- they are not medics, so enjoy life as much as you can while you can and we will do the same !!

That's a plus one from me too. I understand where you are, I have fingers crossed about my mother too, shes fine at the mo but we've been where you are currently.
Hopefully you'll make the Swanage carnival, that brings back lovely memories of being there most years when the children were younger.

Just staggered round parts of the City of London today with G/daughter (from Newcastle) leading the way.
Why is it that they want to go from shop to shop at the age of 10, instead of being eddicated in past history at the Tower of London, The Tower Bridge, Houses of Parliament etc.
Is there a danger that grandparents are more likely to become boring these days?
Sunny day, lovely and warm - managed to bribe her with coke, ice cream and other things of a similar nature.
Think she enjoyed it after all.

After lunch we went to WWT Arundel as planned. The weather was lovely. Plenty of sunshine with some cloud and a nice cool breeze. It felt like a perfect summers day. Much nicer than that intense heat that we had previously.
There was a queue of people waiting to get on the boat safari. Nevertheless, they had two boats running, so we didn't have to wait long. After all that walking this morning, it was nice to just sit on the boat and watch the wildlife. We spotted several different butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. There was also Pike in the water, plus smaller fish. The Pike were very still, almost like a piece of wood floating in the water.
We eventually got back to our site at about 5 p.m. Since getting to bed, it started raining, which has woken us up. I can hear it pattering on the roof of the caravan as I type this. Fortunately, the awning is ok at the moment. We keep going out to check it and make sure no puddles are forming on the roof.

Just got up. A pot of tea is made and just having my first cup of tea now. There's some sunshine but showers too. It seems more like April than July!

It's back to work this evening, delivering pizzas! I'm doing six to nine p.m., so only three hours and then another day off tomorrow.
We plan to go shopping at Tesco Extra this morning.

Busy weekend getting ready for the big trip! Off on Tuesday to Somerset and Cornwall until September.😎
Lots to do this weekend to pack the van and get some shopping essentials (wine🥂) then one more day at school on Monday☹️
Really excited this year as I have managed to secure a part seasonal pitch at Bourton on the Water from Sept. So van will remain there allowing me the opportunity of lots of lovely long weekends and a half term break before bringing it back home.
im so glad I discovered the wonderful world of caravanning!
Have a great holiday anyone who is off in the next days and weeks.
Gill

Congratulations, Gill, on your seasonal pitch. Enjoy your season at Bourton on the Water. It's a lovely place. We've stayed on that site on a few occasions. It closes 30th October so that gives you two months to enjoy it.

I'm sitting out in the awning. Lovely, cool and pleasant after all that rain. Having my second cup of tea. Just finished some cereal and now having wholemeal toast.

We are not going anywhere other than into town this weekend. Too much holiday traffic on the roads.

We're still in Bristol, plenty of rain around but nice atmosphere for the festival. Don't blame you staying put Millie. I wonder if Vivien got to Swanage, hope things are OK, not easy.
Gill, the short seasonal pitch sounds good, we've considered this at a few sites late summer, return to an older lightweight caravan needed first.

Having finished breakfast, we're just getting ready to go shopping at Tesco Extra. It's turning into fair weather here now. The sun is out as I type this but there's still plenty of cloud around.
Once the shopping is done, we plan to come back to the caravan for lunch, after which I'll have an afternoon nap before leaving for work this evening. I'll need to leave before 17:30 to get there in time for 18:00 as I'll need to allow some time for rush hour traffic jams. The worst hold ups tend to be near the Grove Lodge roundabout on the A27. The fastest stretch is the A27 coming out of Broadwater eastbound between Worthing and Lancing.

Rain, rain and more rain.
Work on upgrading our milking parlour has been ongoing for the last couple of weeks. For those who know about these things this is a broad outline of what's involved.
Changing from jars to direct to line. Done.
Flowmeters to measure individual yields. Done.
Transponders in cows' ears to identify them as they come in. In progress.
Automatic feed system (using the transponders).
New automatic wash system. Done I think.
All linked to a computer in the dairy office. In progress.
New engine and pump.
And much more besides that I've forgotten or not been told about, or not understood!
And we're changing to 3 Phase electric. The line was brought in from the road two years ago when we put up some new buildings, but only terminated this Spring. It all cost a stupid amount of money.
Our electrician is here today to install all the boxes and wiring for the parlour and the rest of the buildings. When he says he'll be here "first thing" he means it. Six o'clock this morning.

My Goldie the work all sounds very complicated. Out of interest, I understand little of tech stuff you say about electric 😆, will it work if you have power cut? Sorry about all your rain. Is it warm enough to make the grass grow nicely?
Milliehull sounds very sensible. Brue so glad you're enjoying harbour festival regardless of the weather. Tricky have a great day. Gill lovely that you are away for so long, not jealous at all, and that youll be able to get away at weekends too. Anyone I've missed have a great day regardless of what you're doing.
I have received word from son that his phone all sorted. Nothing from hubby as he refuses to even consider carrying a mobile 😣😣😣. Been bright and sunny enough to wear sunglasses on the holiday dog walk, just one black cloud which made me speed up, however been indoors 30 mins plus and we're just getting a shower. Devil takes care of his own 😉😉

Throwing it down here just outside Appleby totally different to our visit here 3 years ago. Planned to go up High Cup Nick today but that's a non starter at the moment. Hopefully still be able to photo Flying Scotsman as she travel along the Carlisle/Settle line.

We've just got back from shopping at Tesco Extra. We spent £36 and got 36 points plus 9 bonus points for Tesco card spend. We bought kippers for breakfast for tomorrow amongst various other things. We also got some reduced price chicken which is now being cooked for our lunch.
The sun is in and out as there are some heavy grey clouds around.
I'm sitting in the relaxer in the awning with a cup of tea as I type this on my Ipad.

Now there's an idea. A power generator could be the answer to running our air-conditioner and microwave whilst off grid!

Is all this technology going to reduce the price of milk at Tesco then? We just bought a six pint carton for £1.48 in this morning's shopping!
Six pieces of Chinese Chicken thighs cost us £2.84 at the reduced price offer!

Well I guess 21 pence per pint is as good as it gets! I could always come and buy my milk directly from your farm to get a better deal!
