Ball games taking over on club sites
hello I am on Blackpool south caravan club site and I don't believe what I have seen a family using 2 pitches not they own pitch I may add and putting up a tennis net to play tennis on these pitches and yes I have a video to prove it also earlier in the week kids playing cricket with a hard ball between the caravans and YES this is a members only site what is wrong with this club if we wanted this type of behaviour we would go to commercial sites !! The club has got to enforce this and stop these yobs when they check in to the reception and make it clear this is not allowed on our sites, putting up no ball game signs and not enforcing them is a complete waste of time , we come here where people respect each other and they caravans lets stamp this out once and for all
wardens please take this on board and do something about it , I will also be contacting the club about this

It is totally unacceptable that your holiday is being spoilt. However telling the wardens through here is probably not going to be as effective as telling them when it actually happens so that they can deal with it there and then, or you could have a quiet word with the parents?

ok sorry I thought it was the children playing.

I think I'm right in saying this isn't the first time you've experienced unacceptable behaviour on this site, Banff. That's real bad luck.

I started using the club sites after I saw an adult flying a stunt kite and it went straight into the side of a caravan I may add not his van and he found it quite funny so I now only use the cc sites I would hate to see our sites get like that

People enjoying themselves on campsites have just got to be stopped.

Banff, i fully agree with your sentiments about what happened to you on your site and the warden on site is the person to help you resolve it.
however, i dont agree with this....
" if we wanted this type of behaviour we would go to commercial sites !!"
many members, including ourselves, use commercial sites during the year, but we, and i guess every other member, dont suddenly forget their manners when they arrive.
the suggestion that folk's behaviour to others suddenly changes depending on whether they are on a club site or not, is not (in my experience of plenty of commercial sites) valid.....
while, im sure that some very busy (peak time) 'holiday camp touring' sites can be a bit frenetic, the majority of modern commercial sites are every bit as good as (both) clubs' sites, in facilities and in general behaviour, and they will have rules, just as the club does.
you've just described what 'club members' can get upto on one of their own sites......some users of commercial sites reading this might think that they dont want to use club sites if thats the sort of thing that goes on.....
im sure that what you witnessed is not a regular thing and, from my experience of commercial sites, its not regular on those either.
yes, resolve your issue with the wardens, but dont paint a picture of mass poor behaviour at all non club sites.....its just not true.
if club members act poorly on a club site, theyll act poorly elsewhere.
its down to the individuals not the location.

If this bothered you so much and as you say the wardens were off duty then why did you not point out the problem to the parents, If you got no joy then is the time to approach the wardens.
I sympathise and agree with your post re rules but just make the first approach then none of this might have been necessary

We are all members and we know ball games on cc sites are not allowed between outfits only in designated areas what's their excuse ? Have spoken to wardens all sorted now plus it's not my place to tell people what they should be doing I don't work there if I did I would

I have sympathy for your comments but describing people playing tennis or cricket as yobs is not a description I would use. Irresponsible and selfish maybe.

Hi 'Banff', agree it's not acceptable around other units.
You did not want confrontation with the parents, not everyone does so well within your rights to bypass them and speak with the Warden.
As for your choice of words in the post, well it could have been better, but credit to you for acknowledging this when pointed out and replying in a dignified manner.
If tennis, football, cricket or any other pastime that may incur damage to property is played, then these clients must choose a site that has open space set by for this. If that's not available then they are on the wrong site

I assume that the OP considers along with myself , that some CMC members are indeed totally different from somewhat normal members brain dead springs to mind.
It wouldn't be very nice to get hit with a cricket ball /hard ball .....would it , needless to say if it wasn't your caravan / MH that was damaged , that would be ok too.
Unbelievable ........😜

If the story is true then it is not acceptable to be playing with a hard ball so close to other people's units however I don't think it is appropriate for members to be covertly filming other members with video cameras, especially where children are involved.

No need to apologise I did not make that clear it is the children as well
JVB, youll see (if you read all the posts) that it was clarified to CS by the OP that it was parents AND children involved.
its no wonder threads 'wander'.
keep up at the back.....

Funny to see posters commenting others do not read the thread correctly when it's clearly other way round. Lol
its odd that OP will not confront the parents because it's not his job!! What does that mean. I wonder how he/she would feel if wardens came to speak to him about inappropriate videoing of children playing. I think this is an important point and something the club should look at. It's a safeguarding issue.

Victim of what? Children playing ball with their parents?
There is a massive difference between cctv in public which is heavily regulated in its use and a person secretively filming children, do we really want that on our club sites, I think not. I would have thought anyone with common sense would expect anyone doing this be removed from site.
remember the outrage at someone doing a survey on people's toilet habits on this forum, for me this is much worse and is worrying that some find it acceptable.
