Grand Camping du Sud, Carcassonne

I chose this site from the 2014 guide and found it as as described and a nice mixed family site with lots of space. But when I looked in the 2017 Guide it is no longer included. Any ideas why?

The campsite is still there and I suppose the owners have made the commercial decision that they can do their own sales and marketing without paying this Club as an intermediary to find customers for them. If you liked it in 2014 then by all means go again.

Which guide are you referring to? If it's the Caravan Club's European Guide I think you will find they drop off the system if there are no new reports from members. It was in the 2016 guide but the last report is listed as 2010. We have stayed there but back in 2009 during the third week of September. I was not particularly impressed as it seemed very run down but of course it could be very different in the main season and, of course, lots could have changed in the last eight years!!! More recently we have stay at La Cite which is right of the edge of Carcassonne and old city is within easy walking distance. Some pictures here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/Camping_de_la_Cite.html We thought it a much nicer site.

There are mixed reviews on Eurocampings (the main ACSI website) and slightly better reviews on TripAdvisor.

Can you do a review on the Eurocampings website for 2017 and perhaps improve the fairly low scores?

Its still there ! Its an OK site, but as others say Camping de la Cite is nice and much closer to Carcassonne and you can walk in to the town from there. Best to book a pitch  in advance as it can get busy.

Also stayed at Camping de la Cite last year.

Be wary that some of the pitches at the rear of the site are prone to water logging and quite dark.

For Motorhomers there is a brand new MH Aire at the front of the site.
