Campistes in Brittany

Having only had our caravan for a few months we have decided to have an adventure and take it to France in the summer.  We are travelling to Roscoff on the ferry from Plymouth.  The ferry arrives at Roscoff at about 8.30 pm and we have booked our camspsite in Benodet for the next day (staying at Du Letty) but are unsure what to do that evening.  We want to go to a campsite for an overnight stop but will be late to arrive. Does anyone have any experience of this and any recommendations? Any advice will be gratefully received.

If you booked through the club or another booking agency I would check to see if they can find you a site that accepts late arrivals near Roscoff. I know there are others that provide this service at other channel ports but have never used Roscoff.

Either e mail Camping Trologot  at St Pol de Leon and ask Madame if she will save you a place that evening - she is very obliging. Or simply go to the municipal site at Plougoulm village -Le Bois de la Palud - there is no barrier,  so tow straight ahead into the big meadow and pay the warden  when she arrives in the morning. Both those sites are about ten minutes from Roscoff ferry port.

Camping Les Hortensias near Carantec are very welcoming and laid back.   http://www.leshortensias.fr/?lang=en

Send him an email or just turn up . He only  gets full in the first two weeks in August.

    1. Thanks everyone for your useful comments and advice. We have e-mailed Trologot and have reserved a place to arrive late. Just hope we remember to drive on the wrong side now! 😨

Firstly, the ferry docks at 9.30pm France is one hour ahead of the uk.

I am using the same route and have booked a weeks stay at De Trologot. I am advised by the club that they are aware of my arrival time and they wait unti 10.30pm. There is also an overnight area at the entrance which can be used.

Have you got directions to the site, I am told not to tow through St. Pol de Leon.

One last thing. Remember the wrong side of the road is the right. undecided

We stayed at Trologot earlier this month and found the best way to the site is via the D58 but from the Morlaix side then you follow the road into the town then turn right at the first round about signed for the plage.
