We get close to double BB's usage of water. I know my OH is a bit profligate and it's not the shower, which she is quite disciplined about, but I'd love to know how he does it. Perhaps we brew up too much.

my guess is that itll be washing up....if you do it in the van.
my pals wife uses gallons to rinse the plates and then draws another bowl to do the actual washing...And then rinsing...
then pal has to fill the MH every couple of days

But the majority of members do and for the this country and ccc network is what keeps most of the sites full and difficult to get pitches booked ,
what happens overseas is not really of interest to most who are satisfied with what the major clubs and a few private sites offer in the uk

haha, of cousre we do....
...but my point is that you dont need three bowles of water to wash a couple of plates and cups...

however, we've been doing a lot of 'more basic' camping while doing our 'baby sitting bit'....lol. no washup areas on these THS sites...
on our spring trip to spain, i did have a week or so doing the washing up at communal areas 'for a change' (we are committed van washer uppers) and OH thought i had gone bonkers (a regular feeling.....)
I stuck it for about a week (all that moving dishes into a bowl, carrying them around, emptying the bowl, wash up, refill the bowl, walk back, unpack the bowl etc, etc) and as we had a serviced pitch and i was invariably the only one at the sinks (we ate too late for the Brits and too early for the Spanish) i decided it wasnt worth the effort....
i did try.

I think comparisons can be most useful and it makes no sense to dismiss anything north of Dover when there may be lessons to be learned.
Did you mean south of Dover?
I naturally, in view of your constant praise for all things continental, to mean that lessons could be learned from sites down there? I did not imagine for one moment, perhaps incorrectly, that you were saying that continental sites could actually lean from sites over here? If so apologies.
I actually didn't see any joke at all btw.

Agree Jay. If the topic of conversation on site is all about the loos, the showers, the washing area, it's time to use onboard facilities. My OH was once regailed about the merits of different types of toilet paper, including the little gem of how "your fingers go through the soft stuff". He was known as "Mr Izal" for the rest of our stay, we had trouble keeping our faces straight I can tell you!

Have to admit, we do occasionally use a Club Site for the entertainment value, some little gems do stand out....the grass pitch swept clear of rabbit droppings five times a day, the awning placed across a footpath, the bewildered child, aged 3, lectured about riding their tiny cycle the wrong way round one way system (it was a dead end), the midnight stumble to the recycling point with two empty wine bottles every evening that woke everyone up.......

When on C&MC sites we always use the site facilities (these days the usually excellent disabled room) but have never used the washrooms. Many years ago on a similar thread I argued for more showers/less washrooms, as far as I can judge, to no effect. The only time we use our own shower is if we are on a site where showers are charged extra (Norway for example).

Why think that JVB? There are more than a couple of pitches on a CC site, it's quite feasible that all these incidents were noticed as the site was ambled around at differing times of the day...
